| A question for those that do lots of buy and sell online
Ok, so here's what's going on. My brother sells a lot of virtual currency, so he is often not protected from customers doing forced refunds because it is not a tangeble item. So I was wondring is there a website like paypal that does similar functions but have a more seller based securties as opposed to buyer security like paypal. If the question is unclear please ask me to clarify.

We need a site where the buyer cant just bullshit around and tell paypal that they got hacked, and get their money back which is what they have been doing up till now.

Back in the day when I sold Everquest currency, I would either sell to people with decent feedback, or talk to them on the phone first. It cut down being scammed quite a bit. After awhile, I didn't have to worry too much since most of the business was repeat or referrals.

The thing is, what the person did was change the number on the paypal account to another number, called from that, and than still reported it!

i was kind of hooked on wow for 3months and it got real boring real quick so i bought some gold and dumped it on the auction house for pets and after that i quit wow so retarded
anyhow your brother should be able to succesfully dispute everything through paypal if he took some precautions like documenting his transactions and maybe screenshotting or recording the exchange in-game :/

you can sell something like a WoW action card with a gift of xxxx amount of currency (amount you're selling). then mail the card to the person registered mail. when anything gets disputed, show proof of mailing (the card) and then i think paypal should give you your money.

It's funny how your brother is looking for protection...
Under any MMO's agreement, selling virtual coin is a violation and a banning.
Yet you want protection? =P
I just find it funny.

american sellers mail the code or receipt to the customer's confirmed paypal address because we can have a tracking # for like $0.18 on top of postage so it's like $1.50 per transaction but you can add that to your purchase price. but in Canada there is no tracking # system with Canada post, the cheapest is expediated mail which starts at $10 to USA. within BC it is $5, to quebec starts at $10.

We take the precautions you talk about, but Paypal does not view those as evidence. Quote:

I just find it funny. | Well, between the millions of dollars that they make, we just take a cut. I don't think its that bad XD. My brother makes a living off this stuff. Quote:

however, my friend opened a company selling engines and had to dispute A LOT of bum buyers like this, by showing proof of shipment.
I just assumed that since showing proof of shipment for your item helps you win your dispute, shipping a card or whatever is good as long as that's the actual item you're selling. making the virtual currency as a 'gift' but not the actual product would be a sort of loophole to ensure your 'proof of shipment'.
i've never encountered a bum buyer, i just used my friend's experience as an idea and thought of this.
