Incident in downtown (Aug 1)

so after walking back up from english bay, me and my friends hearda loud "boom" that pretty much made everyone stop in their tracks

when we got around to robson and thurlow, there were about 10 police officers infront of the jugo juice?/plenty with one guy on the floor

not really sure what happened cause there were so many people around

and just as we got closer another boom was heard down the block

anyone know what the heck happened?

heard that those two loud booms were from bear scares...didnt see it happened, just saw an older (40ish?) philippino lady hugging another woman crying with a couple cops around her (maybe the bear scare went off right beside her and she shitted her pants?), and next thing you know...another boom went off at half or a block away...then 2 cop suvs just slowly made its way through to the philippino lady

I was like 1 min away from that yesterday, I heard the loud "boom" (thought it was a gun shot or something) then I saw the 2 lady crying and hugging and there was a guy on the ground. Then a few minutes later there was another "boom" and cop cars started showing up. As we walked down Robson, I saw an ambulance coming too.

A large boom/bang can occur when electrical transformers blow out.
