I'm furniture shopping myself. I find that you can't bargain unless you're in:

1) Chinese store (the ones along bridgeport road)
2) High-end (Inspiration, Ginger Jar)

are you realising that furniture shopping is harder than it looks/sounds?
cuz I just did recently.

Pretty much. I might like one style, but it's uncomfortable, and vice versa. =|

Btw, if you're planning to spend 3k on a leather sofa loveseat at Brick etc, you should go look at the high-end furniture places again and look for discounted Natuzzi. Their leather collection could go for within that range especially after bargaining; you get italian leather and made in Italy or China (if the tag says Natuzzi, it's made in China; if it's a U, it's made in Italy).

A more economical solution would be going to inspiration and looking at their italsofa selection. It's a sub-brand of Natuzzi so it still has the quality italian leather but made in China. But you can get a sofa loveseat for 2-3k or cheaper if you bargain.

I find that typical leather sets from China are nearly 3k so I might as well spend a bit more for Italian leather. Just thought I'd share it with you.

Really? I refurnished my whole house when I moved and every place I went to was open for bargaining, I went to a lot of places to. Anyone who pays the sticker price on furniture is nuckin futz, tons of room for negotiation.

For people looking I'd avoid Robs furniture. We had a problem with our dining room table. Although it was a manufacture defect they dealt with it very badly and it took me almost 6 months to get my table replaced. Originally they told my wife the finish was suppose to peel off it was the way the table was made..... Once they finally admitted it was a wide spread problem and others were experiencing the samething thing they had piss poor with communication. They'd call me up and say we have your table we'll drop it off on Friday around 3:00. Friday would come and go they'd pull a no show no call and then when I'd try and follow it up they'd give me the run around and then tell me that the table will be another 2 months. They did this multiple times.

Also check out robs furniture my old man just bought a 5k couch and chair combo and got 1000 off
The price and didn't have to pay taxs. End of the month is the best time to go since they are hurting
To get there sales up. Play hard ball have your price set and if they don't like it start walking away
Most of the time they will come running after you cause they need that sale

you can bargain at all the furniture places. 50% off the list price is the norm but you better be a shrewd negotiator. Your chances increase dramatically if you get a young sales person hungry to make a deal. The old guys are not too keen on negotiating. It will take a while to close the deal but you'll be happy knowing their smile has turned into a frown.

The exact same process as buying a used car, also get them to eat the tax and give you the out the door price.

I found furniture shopping kind of tough actually...not because of the prices but because of the fact that I am super picky because I want something that looks and feels great and something that nobody has.

For modern furniture I recommend Inspiration/BoConcepts near Granville Island. There is also Home Delights in Coquitlam, Noble Furniture in Richmond and Vancouver and Euro Furniture which is in the old Storeum in Gastown - its super expensive but has some crazy nice stuff.

I avoid the Brick because their stuff is just soooo traditional and 'blah'.

This couch and chair are from Noble:

I ended up buying the couches at UFW...... talked the salesman down to 2250for both loveseat and sofa which includes a 5 year warranty and delivery. Thinking back on it now, I think I should have pulled the walk away card and hope the salesman comes after me with a better offer, but too late now.

Well, I could look at it in 2 ways. UFW in store had the couches for sale at 1199.99/1179.99 instead of the brick website pricing at 1299.99/1279.99. So basing on the in store pricing, around $525 off vs website pricing at $725 off..

and orgasm_donor, how much are those couches? they look realllllllllyyy nice.
