Anyone recommend me what to buy for protein
Iv been wokring out for a while but never really took any proteins shakes ( just started to steal some off my brother recently )

Im currently about 120lb's(im light as helll) so u i want to put on some serious weight..

The protein my brother uses is not right for me apparently, he told me to look into some that give more calories? or something on that line.. (its probably because hes pretty fat and he's working out to slim/bulk/tone up)

Yes yes if ur goin to post and tell me to use the search thread please dont bother lol.. I have and reading all the random posts and shit is honestly pissing me off a little lol..

are you sure you wanna buy whey?

After surfing around the iron addicts forum (great forum, IA is extremely knowledgeable), IA has stated that whey is pretty much useless except PWO and even then isn't exactly necessary.

You're better off with a mix of whey, egg, casein to slow down the absorption rate. that way you can use it effectively at ANY time of the day and it won't go to waste.

yea, if you want to gain mass and are looking for a protein mix you should be taking a supplement with decent ratio of calories to protein

eating real food for mass can be expensive i suppose... i would only be taking some like the allmax quickmass if i'm too full to eat anything solid or for the convenience of it

otherwise i'd still down a whey protein shake during or immediately after my workout and eat lots of food for the rest of my nutrition

That's addition to what you cant get from your foods. You can't just rely on weight gainer alone.....well you could, and you'll be broke haha.

A manager friend had an extra 8lb tub of weight gainer, which is still pretty full. I'm not using it; i'm moving the other direction. PM me if you're interested in working out something if that may be something you might want.

haha cassein is what you take b4 bed or can not make a meal in, yuo should never take that stuff after you work out. it digest really slower the whole point of it, you want something quick then after that some carbs, but wtf do i know about cooking a shirt

I took weight gainer for a while, it worked but thats all you do really. Gain weight. I had very little tone and basically just got bigger; especially around the mid section :lol
But I did gain some weight, about 40 lbs or so.

But recently I decided to cut that out and go with a clean protein. I'd rather be leaner w/ a little bit of fat than fat with almost no tone.

You could take gainer, but maybe cut down the servings to half the size or something, however if you do that, you're also cutting down your protein intake.
Thats the problem with gainer. If you want the maximum protein, you're also taking in huge amounts of calories which is probably mostly sugar.

Like someone said earlier, if you take gainer, you'll probably be broke, and its true. The GOOD gainers with less sugar cost ALOT of money.

Yeah that was my goal at first too, but after a while I got tired of not having any definition. I'm sure you'll get there too :)

But in a way I guess it is better to have the fat, then turn it to muscle?
I dunno if it works that way:confused:

help u put mass on so when u do "cut down" the mass is still on your frame in the important parts

I'm pretty sure no knowledgeable trainer/bb will advise you to specifically gain fat first...

that goes against the purpose of bodybuilding! :p

My guess if you go with the recommended amount on the tub, yeah you can go through one (5-6lbs tub) in a week. Most gainers tell u to take 2-3 servings a day.

hey melonboy, at the beginning of the summer i was really light too. like 120lbs. the whey protein is really good or atleast it gave me some good results. im weighing in at 132lbs at the start of hockey season. some advice if you're taking it everyday try to mix it up with juice or nice tasting shakes/drinks. because after awhile it got really blan and started to taste kinda bad for me.

Ya its working pretty well for me atm.. been a month almost, i skipped the daily recommendation of 4 x 2 scoops lol.. serisouly its to thick and to mcuh to drink..
I did 2 x 2 scoops a day, ate 4-5meals, worked out 4-5 days a week..
I started at 117lb's and now im a solid 124-125lb .. :) (i think.. i weighted myself multiple times within a week and on 2 different scales haha)

gained a good 8 lbs in a month?.. thats more then i expected actually.. lol.. next goal is 135-140 by end of year! >=O btw this stuff taste like pretty good haha like drinking chocolate milk

You mean since you dont do cardio, you're starting to get a gut. Doing ab workout alone will not get rid of your gut.

I use the magic bullet, one cup of milk for 2 scoops (kinda like thick chocolate milk).. usually have a meal with this at the side.. (ex. breakfast = eggs, bread, 1shake, glass of milk, cereal or fruit if im still hungry)

hmm.. i dont have a gut atm, hopefully i can keep it that way.. atm im doing about 25x4 (15-30sec rest in between) bicycle crunches a day...
Think thats enoguh to keep a gut off? or should i be doing other exercises?
(btw i dont do cardio during my work outs)

like BlackV62K2 said. you MUST do CARDIO to get rid of GUT.
or something that will burn fat. crunches alone wont do much.

I want the extra nutrition haha.. i go through like a jug of milk every week or so now lol.. good for the boooness and its not that bad =p .. 1scoop is drinking chocolate milk, 2 scoops is like a melted chocolate milk shake haha... (i dont even bother with anymore scoops cause 2 scoops is already half my cup so anymore .. lol)

dam.. cardio eh.. ill probably hold that off till i hit at least 135 or so..

let me give u some advice.
i have been working out for 5 months ish. taking quickmass. havent done any cardio and now i after i eat. my gut is huge. in the morning it looks great though.

you should start cardio now, even if its 10 mins.

i workout 3 times a week and do cardio on 2 days.. and i agree its good to do it.. if you dont your not in shape.. sure your strong and look good.. but you wont even be able to run a couple hundred meters without gasping for air.. thats if you dont do any activity outside the gym

hmm.. cardio.. dam im really broke between doing it or now atm.. the fact is im still light at hell (126lb) i dont know if i want to put in cardio into my work out just yet... my original plan was to work out with 0 cardio work till i hit my ideal weight (135-140) Hopefully by the end of the year or so... i actually plan to give the p90x a try (my cousin has it lol) i was hoping the program would cut off w/e gut and shape my over all body better...

Well if i were to put cardio into my routine it would probaly be this (ex. of what parts im working out dont worry im doing my lats, shoulders and what not)
Monday - Bicep/Tricep
Tuesday- Cardio
Wednesday - Pecs/Back
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Legs

Atm im currently takeing 2scoops Quick mass with my breakfats and 2 scoops after i work out..
I was recommended by my brother to take Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Protein
1 scoops a day before i go to sleep as a booster..

Id like some opinion on this should i put in cardio at this point... and should i take the casein protein..
Also when u say light cardio.. could u expand on that?.. would a 30minute run be light? .. or uhh.. ?

well most pwo shakes have not that much protein compared to carbs.
and a normal shake has aprox 20-30g of protein i dont see why you would need to go over that,
plus 45 min later you are going to eat a low carb high in protein meal anyways

is it a huge deal though if you're trying to gain a whole lot of weight anyways?
anyone have before and after pictures to show off?

i just went through a 15lb bag of PVL mutant mass. i think it's better value than the quick mass too for the price. but it sure is pricey.
you're supposed to go through the bag in about 2 weeks. $70-80 a bag

how long do you guys usually work out for? i've been hearing after an hour, its just using up too many calories. dont know if it's true.

OK, your workout is totally wrong. Yes, good concept on breaking up the major muscle groups, however you cant work out one muscle group / week and expect results.

First thing is first: You should definitely work in cardio, at least once a week, for at least 30 minutes into your routine. I try to work in 3 days, usually after a workout..yes Im dead, but meh. Or gym in morning, do a run at night.

As for diet, if you want to bulk up, a trainer showed me that you need 1g of protein / lbs of body weight, and 2g of carbs / lbs of body weight. Follow this and with a dedicated weight routine you should see results after a while. Once you are a desired weight, trim it back though.

Also, before and after a workout do at least 5-10mins of warm up, such as bike.

I had a suspicion that I was lactore intolerant when I kept getting stomach aches and gas after eating things with high milk content. What I did was, I went and bought lactaid supplement pills (no prescription necessary), and used them before I consumed any milk. Since there was no more stomach aches or gas because I took the pills ahead of time, I knew I was lactose intolerant.

Now, I just take those pills before I have a shake with milk in it, and 99% of the time I have no issues.
