Fucking AWESOME movie, best action movie I've seen in years.

At first I thought it would be stupid, because I assumed it would be like Transformers. In other words, Transformers could have just as easily been about any group of large robots fighting each other. Throw in some explosions and stupid jokes, and you have "Transformers" (and any other Michael Bay movie).

On the other hand, GI JOE takes many of the characters we were familiar with, and made a really fun movie about them. They changed some things here and there, but it's not like they completely changed everything. It's still GI JOE, not "random soldiers with cool weapons".

I think of it as being like STAR WARS for this generation. This is what Episode 1 should have been. :thumbsup:

Oh...i dunno what to say.

I don't care about the whole 'not true to the cartoon,' 'the movie ruined my childhood blah blah,'.....im not one of those cartoon / comic book nerds that complains about those things.

As long as i find it entertaining, okay storyline, and not mind-numbing....then its worth my time.

But the movie itself? I found it....well, a waste of my time. On top of a bunch of things, it felt too artificial....almost kinda like watching that Speed Racer movie from last year.


Everything else i didn't like about it is completely subjective.

First off I want to say I did enjoy this movie and was a huge fan as a kid.

To enjoy this movie you have to accept the fact that everything is over the top and that it's like you were actually watching an episode of the old cartoon series. A live action cartoon movie is what it is and that's how it felt.

One of my complaints and reasoning to make you feel less like any of this could be plausible is that the technology in this movie is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond it's time. That plus the funding required by both the Joes and Cobra to have all that equipment is impossible.

But again, I came in expecting this and did enjoy it a lot. Storm Shadow + Snake Eyes = AWESOME.

And if there was one reason to watch this? THE BARONESS = HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT

I still think the directing was brutal. Certain scenes were really poorly done making it look really lame and almost like they are insulting our intelligence by making the explanations so clear and concise as if we couldn't understand it otherwise.

Stephen Summers confirmed BF's cameo is St. Stone. I am little upset. I was hoping they were setting him up for a sequel which they sometimes do with cameos. It can't be the case here since st. Stone is minor character, I doubt Brendan would go for a minor role. Oh well my fantasy of seeing him in a uniform is going to wait. He would have been perfect as Lt Flint. Script as mentioned before was pretty lame. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this movie but it ended up being a gigantic bucket of fail that contained retarded action sequences that literally put folks to sleep and more plot twists than an M. Night Shamylan movie.

I'm positive that the only reason the movie theatre was full on a tuesday night was because of the name. If it was named something like "action heroes" or some other title then there would have been a lot less people in it.

Quite honestly, its not a movie that you can go to and expect to leave with something. I could have not watched this movie and went on with my life happily with an extra $10 to spend but i decided to post here to tell you guys not to make the same mistake I did. I gave myself a purpose after watching this movie, what will you guys do if you go through the same troubles?

I'm assuming 'not-often' since what happened on-screen you probably found entertaining and you didn't have to force yourself to watch it. Unless of course you have slept through quieter movies which probably means you have attention deficit disorder or some other problem with your head.

I had no expectations from the movie and I never got into the GI Joe. I thought the script was OK at most. I mean it had an introduction of how they got into GI Joe, who the bad guy was, who the good guy was and of course, the rising of corba.

The one liners were extremly bad, acting was just as bad. Marlon Wayans who was the 'brother' as Ripcord was just stupid. I kept on thinking he was from white chicks and I just didn't like it when he kept trying to be like Will Smith.

I went in and I saw the CGI and i'm not as crazy as you guys but most of you are right. The movie was like way way way ahead of it's time. i mean i can SORT of believe the GI Joe suits, but damn, underwater city was just a bit too much.

I'm pretty sure they will make a part two to this, a decent setup which I think will be in production in about 3 years.

Comparing this to transformers, i woudl think this is a bit better because of how much more relative this movie was. I was able to distinguish who the good and the bad guys were, in Transformers, man, there were just so much transforming and I had no idea who the good or the bad guys were.
