What is your favorite vegetable to eat???
Stemmed from the other thread... yes men, admitting you eat veggies does not make you GAY.
I love
- tong choy, or as in the other thread, water spinach (never knew the name)
- watercrest (in soup)
- gai lan (u cant knock this stuff, especially w/ oyster sauce)
- tong ho (no this is not ur chinese neighbors name, hard to explain, but always order at hotpot)
- san choy (its another leafy green, but love it served almost like in a soup w/ salted eggs)
there's a lot more to the list but its late and i cant think of any...

Wow, so many "tong ho" fans? I think it smells & tastes funny...
I like baby bok choy in garlic. That's probably my favourite veggie.
As a side note, the Chinese styles of cooking veggies is much more tasty than the Caucasian styles. A mini-tree-sized piece of broccoli sitting on the plate beside my steak at the Keg comes to mind... No wonder white kids don't like veggies! :p

i think with all veggies, i like spinach.
it's the most versatile. I can use it raw as salad, steamed, use it in dumplings, in tarts...

Not trying to be the produce police but a few things.
Dong qua is called winter melon
Fuzzy melon is Mo qua.
Tau Mui or Dau Mui (correct name) is pea tips. Pea sprouts is something else.
Lastly, it is spelled watercress.

One more vote for Tong Ho. Stir fries really well with richly flavored sauces.
But my #1 favorite can't be found in Vancouver .... I miss Yamaudo leaves:

One thing I found, I usually pretty well hate red and green peppers, BUT when they're deep fried with that fish paste in it (hong kong street vendor style?) it's a whole other taste and it's not only edible, but delicious.

I used to hate those peppers too, but they're growing on me. Green ones are the cheapest and taste the worst, IMO. Red ones are ok, but the orange and yellow ones are so sweet! Stir-fried of course - I'm not gonna eat them raw!

some ones come to mind...pea tip, gai choy, spinach, brocolinni, zucchini, potato, yam, brocolli, gai lan, sui choy, buttercup squash, asparagus green or white...
Not really racist!
