: What's your backup/carry-around camera?

Levitron

Currently mine is a crappy Canon SX100IS until I can justify spending money on a carry-around camera that has SLR-like abilities (which might come in the form of a Olympus E-P1/2).

Backup: Always carry my SD1100 with me, love it. Wicked video quality for P&S. Thinking of getting something with better zoom tho.

DSLR - Canon 50D
P&S - Canon SD400 (old now!)

i can't afford a back-up body for this money-pit hobby of mine...i would rather buy more lenses and oneday just go up to a 5D Mk2 and have my 50D as a back-up cam :)

LX3 is a great camera.

Yeah, larger sized sensor with less pixel density!

I'll be getting a few interesting shooting opportunities later on during the Olympics, but since I'll be working I won't be able to carry my 5D around that easily.

Try looking at that new Panasonic GF1.

Thing is, I don't know if I want to invest in that lens system.

With the Olympus micro 4/3's, don't they have adapter rings to fit canon/nikon/lecia lenses? However, it sorta defeats the purpose of having a small camera with you have a big honking lens.

Hmm....G11, S90.....

Yeah G11 looks good. Low noise ftw? Will await reviews to find out.

I'm actually quite excited for the S90. Very similar package to the LX3, and even smaller/sleeker.

Carry around - Canon EOS 500D (Canon Rebel T1i in North America)
Backup - Sony Ericsson C905 8.1MP. (Yes that's a phone. ROFL)

Senna4ever

I'd still choose the LX3 over the S90. The lens is better, but that's only because I don't mind not having the long end that the S90 lens has. YMMV.
