take a pic..is this a pop up screen?
my fans run pretty loud in the summer too
what kinda ps3 you got?
this is why i never buy electronics used if there's no warranty...

Where do you have your ps3 setup? If it's setup in a confined space, then there won't be much air circulation to cool it.

ya its a pop up message on the right corner of the screen. the system is on a table in the middle of the living room. ive bought a cooling fan that attached to the usb...i dont see how that works but tried it anyway. placed a small (6') fan the right of the ps3 to help with fanning.

wats the place in coq??? that would be awesome! im in poco.... yah well she wanted 300$ and i told her 200$ after i heard the fan and that it dint come with hdmi...she said yes right away..hrm

you're probably gonan spend over $100 if you head there without warranty.

I know they charge $150 for YLOD (yellow light of death).

i dont know about ps3 but i heard those intec afermarket fans make ventilation on xbox360 even worse!

^ yes cause those plug into the USB thus drawing even MORE POWER through the console.
the good ones tap into the main power plug instead of using the USB ports.

I thought MTC in Coq closed down? a member on this forum had trouble with MTC for warranty repairs on his Sony Bravia?

and my 40G PS3 had to be serviced twice for the same problem, WITHIN the warranty period and it is coming back.

I hope I can get a year out of it before it burns out, at which point I am gonna get a BD player instead.

iono if its closed down or not, but i had my 80gig brought there to fix (had the YLOD) without warranty, but had no problems with it afterwards

as for aftermarket fans, don't use them, they'll only decrease the life of your system

Try vacuuming it first. Should suck most of the dirt out, which will allow for proper cooling.

HondaCrv

yea ive tried vacuuming the vents twice...still fail :(

SkinnyPupp

Did you do the front vents too? Those are the ones that collect the most dirt.

HondaCrv

There was also a Amazon.de placeholder for the new Slim PS3 but it was later removed from the site

also this information yesterday:

British electronics site Pocket-Lint reports today that its "sources" have confirmed that the slim PS3 is a reality and that Sony will announce it next week. Specifically, it will be officially announced by SCEI chief Kaz Hirai during the press conference that will be held next Tuesday evening (Europe time) at the GamesCom gaming conference in Cologne, Germany.

all this info came from Blu-Ray.com and wherever they got it.... but yeah looks like it

The PS3 slim is so fucking ugly, I thought it was a joke. I can still hardly believe they would make it look so ghetto...

those pics were 'leaked' from 2-3 months ago..i kinda knew they were probably gonna be the real deal.

i mean ps2 slim was ugly too..just compact. As long as it doesn't make heat/noise i could care less.

Im not sure why SCEA news always get leaked...rarely happens to microsoft.

because by "leaked" it actually is "scerecly told the press" by Sony.

Same goes for the "leaked" info before this year's E3.

i know the PSP Go! was probably leaked by sony
