: Flashes in the sky

Anyone notice flashes in the sky in the last couple of hours?

Kinda looked like lightning except there were no thunder

yup, was standing outside chilling with friends and saw quite a bit of lightning

Yep, I saw them too and it was pretty interesting. Lightning storm/rain suppose to come tonight apparently.

there actually were flashes in the sky that wasn't from the meteor showers, I saw it too. Pretty sure it had to do with the thunderstorm that was sapposed to happen..

up here, there was a very visable meteor shower (look it up, perseids or something)

however, I only noticed it when I saw a meteor go by and light up the sky behind one of the mountains! no thunder, it wasn't lightning.... it was crazy.

I've previously seen it happen without the thunder, a few weeks ago. I believe it may have been the time when Whistler caught on fire.

anyone see this tonight?

A bright light lit-up the sky over Metro Vancouver Saturday evening.

People from Surrey, Langley, and Vancouver all called the CKNW Newsroom to explain what they saw moving East to West across the sky just after 8:00 p.m.

"It was just like a big white fire streak. Almost like lightning."

"I saw this big light. I thought it was a plane coming in. I could see this long tail."

"I saw a giant ball of fire. It shot clear across the sky."

No word yet if the object was in fact a meteor.

I saw it I was over at steveston at a year end party. I saw it fly over my head prob less then 1000'. It was bright white and I saw it break into 6 or so difference pieces and basicly burnt up. It was a meteor for sure.

It was pretty darn cool closest I have seen something like that.

I saw this tonight when I was picking up a seat from another member here on revscene. I was at Ironwood mall just before 8, and I was standing outside my truck waiting for dude to show up. Looked up and watched an object (99% sure it was a meteor) for like 10 seconds +. Amazing because it was somewhat light out too. Looked like a bright white ball movin hella fast and then eventually broke up. Crazy

What appears to be a shooting star streaked the sky, Saturday night
John Streit VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) | Saturday, September 12th, 2009 11:37 pm VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - News1130's phone lines were busy as callers witnessed what may have been a shooting star lighting up the sky.

One caller said the object had a prominent tail and seemed to hang in the sky for 15 to 20 seconds. Another said it went from east to west and was red and white in colour. One caller said it broke up in parts as it shot across the sky. At this point, no word if the object hit the earth.

I was walking outside at the time, my wife and I saw it, but my son was too busy goofing off in his stroller. Coolest thing I've ever seen!

i saw it last night around 8 maybe? I was firing up the bbq, look up towards a bright light. It looked either like a meteor or a plane breaking apart falling to the ground.
