Can anyone inform me, through expertise or experience, on which brands and models are great photo printers for the price.

my max budget it around $300.

I'd say Canon at that price range ... HP isn't too bad either ... Not spending enough for Epson to take the cake ...

I paid about $40 for my Canon 268, and the print quality is great.

Pick up a used Canon iP something or other, and you're set. eBay for the ink.

Starting with the iP4000 series, generally. Surprisingly good prints from a ~$100 printer.

$300 should net you a pretty decent printer. Craigslist can be a great place. I found a BNIB rx680 for $50 with no ink.
