2x 320gb Raid 0 or 1 WD velociraptor?

well, it's not difficult to find out the read speed of the velocirator
I see numbers between 120mb/s to 130mb/s maximum.
I now have a WD 320gb...so called the RE3 HD, which they say it's bit faster than regular 320gb out there. Here's the product page.
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=490
I wonder what's the read speed I will get if I buy another RE3 and raid 0 it compare to 1 WD velocirator 150gb HD?
There are ridiculous numbers out there, like 200+mb/s. does it sound right?
How quick is it in real?

as you fill up a HDD, it will get slower. Don't ever trust the manufacturers performance numbers.
IMO, RAID-0 is overrated...I've been there and never went back. The performance was not noticeable through daily use. The only time I've ever considered RAID again is to run RAID-1 (mirroring) for backup purposes.
If ultimate performance is what you want, get a SSD.
The price of SSD drives has plummeted in the past 3 months, and they are actually affordable now. (although still expensive compared to a HDD). SSDs are the future, and the higher end ones will blow the Velociraptors away.
I'm just waiting for the Intel X-25s to go on sale again, and can't wait to install my OS on it.

but what about the issue for the limited times SSD's can be rewritten?

I can't justify spending that much for hardly noticeable difference and have to go back
to 60, 80gb in primary storage.
I am not saying SSD is slow, but it is wise to spend the money on maybe a better video
card or Quad CPU (E7200 right now) unless SSD price goes down to a more affordable
level.
320gb is only $60...and it seems like the bottleneck is there.

im using raid 10 atleast its better than raid 1 haha
why not give that a try you get the speed plus backup

ok, after reading some HD forums, I am convinced that Raid 0 is useless in real life performance.
now what? velocirator or new CPU or more ram (I have 4gb already) or SSD is the only
way? I do a lot of video ripping, file extracting/converting, software testing...and hoping
to speed up the bootup time as well. I need you guys' input.

Go SSD in RAID 10, you won't want to go back.

problem with ssd is that what ur doing is a lot of reads and write that will make the ssd pretty much done

Yeah, if you need a HDD that lasts more than 15 years, you'll probably want to skip SSD.
