So I haven't smoked for the past 10 days, but a few days ago was getting a lot of flu like symptoms. Is it a coincidence that I'm getting sick while quitting, cuz it's a bitch, or is it something most people go through?

I smoked a pack a day for 3 yrs and quit about 6 months ago now.

I'd say the withdrawal symptoms cut out after about 3-4 days. Seeing people made me want to smoke, but in terms of my body wanting it, i'd say 3-4 days. I'm thinking you might just be coming down with the flu. Either way, you've made it 10 days already, don't throw it away with worries now!

Are you on the patch btw?

Kev

I've been smoking since I was 16, so a solid 6 years now. I was at a pack a day for the longest time but my current girlfriend made me cut down to about 4 a day. I'm not on the patch or anything, just going straight up cold turkey. This flu is just making things so much worse!

You really should try the patch, it makes things 1000x easier...

holy shit I got those symptoms from one day of not smoking because I was on a plane for 14 hours.

All I can say is way to go man! it may not seem incredibly hard to not smoke for 10 days to those who don't smoke but seriously it is so hard quitting smoking and certain days like being on a plane make me realize it's almost impossible to quit but you're almost there, keep it up!

lol at smokers that have to 'endure' a 12 hour flight...you see them running out of the airport quickly so they can get a dose of the cancer stick

i usually packed my lung with 4-5 smokes before going onto flight.. you never know... those might be the last smoke you ever have...
and i quickly run out of airport light up a cancer stick to celebrate a safe flight :D

I once quit for over 5 years and got back into it again. I've been clean for about 7 years now. The secret is to go to bus stops and other places to inhale second hand smoke......... Been smoking since 10 or so. I'm slightly over 50. My lungs are probably fried. Smoking weed does help, BTW.

Another tip.......stop having sex and you won't need to smoke, LOL.
