Anybody know where I can get something like this custom made?

I could technically buy it from RigShots, but their asking $100 to $150CND for these parts! I know it's custom, but everything on their site is 3x as expensive!

Use the Manfrotto 035 clamp. That's what I'm using now.

Any CNC shop can do it for you.. but it will still cost more than $150 but the IP will belong to you.

$150.00 bucks sounds very reasonable for stuff like that.

It's a camera mount so you can take car shots while driving.

For that money you could buy Sticky Pods + extensions, which are more versatile, but I'm sure you are already considering that.

I'm mounted a big camera and lens worth about 4000$ suspended 15-20 feet away from the car. There is no way that's going to hold :lol

I know what he put into his rig, all the parts are available. I'd need more reach, flexibility and security so I'm going a little custom on this one

Well, then try Kurt at K G Tech Inc. or Quality Machine in Richmond, but again $150 sounds pretty reasonable.

Perhaps you can incorporate one of these.

Pretty flexible and easy to get.

Instead of installing stuff on the hood, could you not install a boom on a grill guard of some type. Get some welder to fabricate something that bolts to the chassis up front. Not sure what you have up front, but tow hook mounts? Once you have a solid mounting location, you can use just about anything. The Manfrotto Super Clamp can be used on any tubing up to two inches, I think.

As for the clamp being strong enough, I've had the thing mounted on a rail car that does 6 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Didn't budge at all.

There are several models of the Super Clamp by Manfrotto.

^ Ya I use the super clamp for my magic arm already.

Why is everyone giving me advice on how I should make my rig? lol

Looks like I'll be purchasing the part straight from them. Once I have the rig ready I'll post some photos of it on my Photographer by Night thread.
Thanks to [RSX-S] and everyone who helped
