* Competes with: Toyota Venza, Subaru Outback, Nissan Murano
* Looks like: Acura’s penchant for ugly grilles has infected Honda
* Drivetrain: Likely the same 3.5-liter V-6 as the Accord sedan
* Hits dealerships: Fall 2009
We knew Honda was bringing a new crossover — based on the Accord — to market relatively soon. The company even teased an up-close image of its grille. Today, we get to see the full monty, and it could have stood some shrinkage.
There’s just no discussing this car without tackling its huge schnoz. Not only is it oddly shaped, but it doesn’t fit the natural flow of the car’s front end. Follow the lines of the headlights and notice how they smash right into the grille. It’s disjointed to say the least and unfortunate in an extreme sense since the rest of the car looks fairly decent. We have images of the Crosstour grille and the standard Accord sedan grille below.
Full specs haven’t been revealed yet. A special web page for the Crosstour hints at more in 34 days; we’re not sure if that’s for more information or the on-sale date. Honda is known for putting an all-new model on sale the same day they release full details to the press, and it’s possible that the Crosstour will go on sale on Oct. 2.
How else does it differ from a typical Accord sedan? Honda says it will ride higher, like an SUV, to give a commanding view of the road. Obviously, the rear hatch will offer more utility than a sedan trunk; Honda calls it a “unique” cargo area, but doesn’t offer any specific details about it.
If you want to follow the Crosstour on Facebook, maybe you’ll learn more along the way. Check out the new page here. For the rear — and much better-looking — angle of the Crosstour.

neither the euro nor the NA version looks great. The Euro has great looking dash, that's all about it. The new Mazda 6 wagon looks much better than that.
this one looks like an old man

Do you guys think they designed this thing for young kids to drive? they designed it for old guys and gals who want to sit up high, ingress and egress easily, and get good fuel economy....do you think the big car companies are dumb? The marketplace is changing.

09-03-2009, 07:36 AM
^I think theres enough of that in the market right now, and packaged better too
and honda is just slipping with their design and engineering in the market
At least it carries recent honda fad of wheels that make a car look to tall, gas guzzling V6s,
Inefficient coupeish design that doesn't help in terms of style or practicality, at least the X6 looks kinda funky and aggressive
Design kinda looks like they modelled it off a backwards croc shoe...
I don't know how they managed to ruin the excellent looking accord this much

Looks pretty good, but seems like they just sealed the back doors shut so that it's a 2 door.
Its even still got the outline of the door.
Not really racist!

The marketing team behind the Honda Crosstour thought it was a good idea to use a social networking media such as facebook to generate a buzz/hype behind this model. Sadly, 99% of the comments have been negative ridiculing the especially the aesthetics and intention of another crossover.
Check out some of the hilarious comments:
If I had a wallpaper of this car I would have to find a way to clean VOMIT outta my keyboard. -- Matt Q.
We hear you bud. You made your point. Some people will enjoy this car and this is for them -- Honda
Blind people can't drive... Matt Q.
Here's the rest: http://www.facebook.com/accordcrosstour
After being flooded with so much negative comments in the last few days, Honda released a statement in defense:
Also here is some quick info on why this car might be the right fit for you.
1. Accord doesnt have 4WD.
2. CR-V desnt have V6
3. Lower than CR-V , higher than Accord.
4. More room than Accord.
5. More aggressive looks than Sedan Accord and some might a......gree coupe.
6. Comes with 18inch wheels.
7. Fog Lights Standard
Then today, another new statement:
Hi, Facebook fans. We’re listening, and we want to address a few things you’ve been talking about over the past few days.
1. The photos: Arguably, the two studio photos we posted didn’t give you enough detail, nor were they the best to showcase the vehicle. There are more photos on the way. Maybe it’s like a bad yearbook photo or something, and we think the new photos will clear things up.
2. It’s not the European wagon: We've seen a lot of comments about the desire for a wagon, but this is neither a wagon nor designed for wagon buyers. We think the Euro wagon is a cool vehicle, too, and we appreciate the feedback… but a version of that wasn’t our intention here. That's another segment worthy of our consideration, but the Accord Crosstour, built on the larger, Accord platform, is meant to give you the best of two worlds – the versatility of an SUV with the sportiness of a car.
3. Many of you don’t like the styling: It may not be for everyone. Our research suggests that the styling does test well among people shopping for a crossover.
4. You want further details about the Accord Crosstour: We typically can’t give you details so far out from when the vehicle goes on sale for a number of reasons, including competitive intelligence and pure availability. However... we hear your frustrations, and while specs on the vehicle aren’t finalized, we’re trying to get some stuff together that we hope will satiate some of your curiosity and give you more to think about.
5. Honda associates participating in the wall comments: We didn’t remove comments out of embarrassment. We removed comments that were posted contrary to American Honda's consumer-generated media policy for associates: We must first clearly state that we are Honda employees and that a posting is a personal — not Honda’s — opinion. Eddie forgot to add that, so his comments were removed.
Thank you for all of the interest, and we’ll be in touch again soon...
LMAO. What a PR disaster.

What do we learn from this besides bad design sucks?
If you have a chief designer eg Chris Bangle.. then he/she is the one who take the blame perpetually even after he/she had left.. If you design by committee, the whole company get kicked in the ass.

not really.. as long as his boss doesn't use fb, he should be fine.
but seriously... what is up with honda's designs since the day the acura grill was introduced? Do parents really dig those designs?
Can we have some parents on this forum to say a few words about what they think about honda's new designs and specs?
