So it's about a month now that new skytrain is up and running. I know alot of people saw skytrain in Richmond with different opinions. Now that it's been up what are your thoughts.

Personally I've seen more bums in Richmond and even some junkies. Just hope it doesn't turn into new west lol. Other than that I guess traffic is a bit better in general.

I'd rather have more traffic than bums and junkies and break ins and cars stolen.

where ever there is a skytrain crime will follow. I dont know what it is about these losers but some people just like hanging out at the skytrain. I work across from lougheed and I see the same junkies and young punks there everyday just hanging out get a life

what's the verdict: At 8:30am going from Canada Line to Expo Line would you:

change trains at Vancouver City Centre by walking up to Georgia and down Granville St station
change trains at Waterfront?

What about say 4 in the afternoon?

discuss.

for both those times, if you have the extra 5 minutes i would jump trains at waterfront since its rush hour and you'd be able to get a seat to chillout.

DAISO, HERE I COME!!

My son and his buddies rode the Skytrain to Richmond from SFU. His buddies, who are mostly caucasian, were like holy carp, Daiso is so cool! I think the skytrain is good for everyone. Crime will follow, I'm sure, but it can be controlled if the authorities get smart about it.

Same here, I knew about Daiso since my parents went in the States, but I went there last week using the Canada Line. Awesome store for school supplies, even though the fixed price doesn't make some items worth it, like mechanical pencils.

Now I notice they have someone that stands right at the fare paid zone line and ask people if they got tix if they aren't seen approaching the ticket machine first.

Which is a good idea imo. those turnstiles were priced at 100mil? You can hire 100 people for their whole life without paying that much @ $10/hr

There's someone checking fares at almost every stop of the Canada Line. Good stuff.

bums might come to richmond now but they wont stay long, chinese ppl are dirt cheap. then last thing i'll spend a few pennies on is to a bum. lol. When they realize they arent goin to get any in richmond, they'll migrate back to coq and new west.

dude,

surrey central and gateway are fucked.

Gateway is SKETCHY
Surrey Central has a different group of random punk teenagers who smoke, swear, are drunk, and start fights with randoms.

I saw a kid who mustve been 12-14 rolling up a joint, then passing it over to what seemed like his mother, or a 40 year old sibling. Then they both enjoyed it, fucked to say the least.

I feel like smashing all of them every time I am on the way home from work, but I know if I smashed one, I would have 16 of them trying to gang rape my anus.

No. 3 Road isn't going to change; there's just too many cars in Richmond with people who aren't going to bother with public transit.

99 is from UBC to Broadway station

i like the new skytrain but that's because i don't live in richmond like some of you, makes it a bit more easier to get around and consume less gas haha

My experiences have all been terrible.

Worst experience I had: Taking last Seabus from North Van at 1am. Arrives at Waterfront at 113. Last Canada Line leaves Waterfront at 115. It's impossible to make that connection. And then you're stranded. Someone at Translink thinks that's realistic. Try it sometime. The distance you have to walk makes it impossible.

Canada line isn't too bad since I've already saved some money by using it. I've went to downtown on several occasions via the skytrain instead of my car; saved some money on gas. I mean I have a upass so I might as well put it to use. All the stations have workers standing there checking to see if people purchased fares. Cops also have randomly boarded the train at a stop connecting richmond and vancouver to make sure nobody was causing trouble (could have been because someone pressed the silent alarm in the train?)

soon that will stop just like the regular expo line. i've been through the canada line since it opened to change the ticket vending machines and yes, for the first week someone was there checking at each station, but as the weeks progressed, they have been disappearing and only a few station had the attendants. sooner or later, like the expo line, they will most likely vanish from the large stations and go chill. or when a crapload of people come off the trains they vanish. i've caught a couple of them sleeping already in their little break rooms.

believe it or not, i've been told the canada line skytrain attendants make more than the expo line skytrain attendants, which i believe is at about $26/hr.

speaking of DAISO...

there's a place called Yokohama.. I think.. in Tinseltown... they sell pretty much the same stuff.

the stuff there is Japanese branded, but made in China.

I find the Canada Line to be much more crowded than I anticipated going in both directions. Also I really don't think the connections into Richmond are frequent enough, I know that the trains alternate between going to YVR and to Brighouse but 15mins per train really seems to long to be waiting.

single lanes half the time, the other half is 2 lanes, but they always have to merge back in b4 the next light anyway so dont see the point

seeing as how #3 is dt rmd i dont kno why they dont have ppl working on that road 24/7 to make sure its 100% asap?? instead they go and dig up #2 (and finish in like a week, while #3's taking 5 years?)

Do they really expect the C-lais of Richmond to take public transits? Them and their tanker MB vehicles.

God damn, I miss the No.3 when it wasn't modded into this riced up faggotry. God damn.

of course. at first they didn't believe me. kept telling me that the schedules were realistic. when I got hold of someone more senior and told him the details, I never heard back.

And then we all wonder why people don't like taking transit? I'll stick to my car.

vancouver's infrastructure needs improvement and the canada line is one of them..regardless of the consequences it brings. not everyone has a car... and its about time that we have some form of transportation to the airport OTHER than a car...

if each of the expo line sations only had 1 entrance like the canada line - you can have 1 attendant checking fairs all the time ... save on the turnstiles - and the employees will be actually earning their wage..

but places like stadium, scineworld, all have 2 entrances..

get on canada line in richmond >> get off at broadway-city hall / get on 99 eastbound >> commercial - broadway station (expo)

but places like stadium, scineworld, all have 2 entrances..

and the new expo platform at commercial - broadway will have 2 because of the rennos that have entrance to 10th ave.

btw canada line has many more attendants than skytrain because protrans is actually paid by translink based on customer service & performance.
