One of, for sure.
But given how long since there's been a World War, I wouldn't doubt something much bigger may occur in the next 50 years.
NOTE: ~3000 people died in 9/11. But 5,000,000 people have died in the Congo since 1980. That's 1666x more people.

I understand that this is a very heartfelt issue and all. RIP to the victims.
But I can't get out of my head how many times Family Guy mentioned 9-11.
1. When Lois was running for mayor
Interviewer "How are you going to change healthcare?"
Lois "9-11"
2. When the Griffin family went to "Ground Zero" at NYC
Peter "So this is where the first person got AIDS"
But I remembered when it happened, I was in my Gr 7 classroom. Suddenly the teacher (hearing from another teacher) runs to turn on the radio and the whole class was silent. We were all listening to what was happening.

this thread reminds me of the "9-11 was an Inside Job" group that has a booth in UBC SUB every once in a while...they'll get in super heated argument with some of the students walking by lol
RIP victims
^^^ Yeah they have that goin' on in Discovery Channel too. Yesterday and possibly today.
Conspiracy theorists are hella funny. They tried to debunk that it's a controlled explosion by showing how much work, how many workers are needed, and how disruptive a process it is to prep a 9 Story building for explosive demolishment.

If this happened outside N. America or a big city in Europe, it would be second page news.
How many people on here reflect on the anniversaries of other events where 2, 5, 10 times more people are killed?

wow. the first pic speaks volumes for the conspiracy. I thought it was all mumbo jumbo , but WTC 7 was in the middle of 2 other buildings , that didnt even get touched according to the pic. WOW!
can you say? Controlled Demo?
Can you say? Inside Job?

That's so true...
No disrespect for the ones that past away in this unfortunate event...
But to be honest, I had no idea what the World Trade Center was until this
event had happened.

But you have to remember, outside of the attack on Pearl Harbour, what major disasters/terrorist/war attacks have hit the USA or Canada in the past century? There are still yearly memorial services for things like the Oklahoma bombing and the plane that was bombed mid-air in the Maritimes, but something like the WTC event has a far greater impact on the typical average North American life than the other two I mentioned.
It's kinda sad to know that when I was last in New York, I remembered looking up at the twin towers and thinking that they were sooo tall. This was back in the early 80's when I was too young to understand the significance behind those buildings. Sadly, those will be the last memories I have of actually seeing that whole block still intact.

It doesn't matter if the tsunami killed 100 times more people... it's still the result of a natural phenomenon... totally different from the 9/11 attacks.

its so obvious this was controlled
the building would not just fall into itself, it would atleast bend or break and defferent sections, like how is the the whole foundation blown to dust
just fuck'd

yes.... there was some footage that i had never seen before, especially the radio playback from the fire crews that were in the towers in sync with footage from the outside right up to and during the collapse of both towers. there was one scene in particular, just after the massive dust cloud hit from the second collapse, a cameraman happened across a dove( maybe a pigeon?) that fell from the sky and was fluttering around in the ash and debris on the sidewalk.... so sad :(

09-14-2009, 09:09 AM
ok seriously now, to say that this was a controlled explosion is absolute garbage. i guess the weight of 30-40 floors in tower 1 and the 50-60 floors in tower 2 were as heavy as marshmallows? come the fuck on. thats TONS of steel and concrete, not to mention the weight from all the office furniture, electronics, fixtures and people.
any idea how hot jet fuel burns at? you really think nothing was going to melt or buckle from the pressure of all that weight?
it's called a domino effect which can CLEARLY be seen in the footage. once the top portion gives way, the sheer momentum it gains from crushing one floor is enough to what..? MAKE THE TOWERS COME DOWN.
even IF you say there were explosives planted near the bottom of the towers, how can you prove it was the doing of the US gov't? who's to say that the terrorists didn't do the planting? they hijacked 4 commercial planes with 19 people, why wouldn't they ensure that the towers came down? THAT WAS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT.

i really enjoyed the way everything was presented - without a narrator. i remember watching that douche in Times Square saying he was glad about what happened. its been a long time since ive seen that.

i think that guy was being sarcastic. here he was witnessing a terrorist attack and some dude is shoving a camera in his face asking how it makes him feel. at the end, he basically told the camera guy to get out of his face. a lot of people actually had that reaction to the camera men.
tool001
09-14-2009, 12:57 PM
fact that the building is not made to withstand the weight of a jetliner, 747 or 767 (whatever they were) 900,000lbs. plus the weight of the fuel.
Under that weight and fire, any building will give way
when the planes smashed they must have taken down the support beams or atleast damages them

^ thank you.
it almost makes me think the conspiracy theorists are thinking "but, it's WTC". just like "but, its a Si :)"
