Soaps that actually CLEAN the car ??

I have a problem that typical automotive wash formulas can't touch, even tried Dove dish washing degreasing soap, but I been washing my car last few days but repetitive process of soaping and sponging the crap out of it only to dry it and still see crap on the paint I can't really get out. The stuff stuck on the paint can be many things, road tar, sticky oil or tree sap, etc..... but I can basically sum all the crap up in one word.......... "goo"

I thought Mothers clay baring would help, but it made it worse.... so now I have another problem, I clay bared and washed the car after but I can still see a lot of the Showtime spray all over my hood and the rest of the car, couldnt wash it off, and elbow grease didn't work.
I'm using one of those fine tile/grout sponges you get at home depot which holds a lot of water, is there something else I should be using, is that why I'm unable to wash the residue of the car, not enough pressure ?

now I don't wanna use any sort of liquid abrasives/cleaners aka liquid sandpaper, my paint couldn't handle it......
but what I am looking for is a car wash soap that will actually clean the car and remove or degrease the crap that's stuck on the paint as opposed to just foaming it up and not making a difference like all the soaps I tried.

Some of the troublesome cars I've had I've added some sunlight as a degreaser and it's worked well also a good bug and tar remover works well to for stuck on stuff. I only use the sunlight before any waxing due to the fact it strips some wax. Also get a quality wash mitt and ditch the sponge. I reccomend Meguires gold class as a good OTC wash. Also when you clay make sure to keep the bar and the car super lubed up. I usually wash with some degreaser and soap. Then clay and then re wash with just the gold class. Hope that helps.

first off that goo u speak of wont come off with clay bar i think i have dealt with that before, and by making it worse i believe you spreaded it eh? 2nd the showtime spray i had that same problem, next time dont claybar with the showtime spray for lube just use plain water (, it works best imo); and to remove that haze from the showtime spray will require alot of elbow grease with microfibre clothes when car is dry. and for the sponges, i would use a microfibre wash mitt. and for just washing the car try using meguiars gold class car wash, but first use an all purpose cleaner/degreaser and spray a mist all over the car and if possible use/rent a pressure washer, this will make a hell of a difference

Your description sounds like you didn't use enough claybar lube and possibly did it in the sun? The goo is probably some of the claybar on the surface of the clearcoat.

I've used the Showtime Spray and its not the greatest. Much better alternativces, talk to 911Fanatic.

I used almost the whole spray bottle of Shortime Lubricant spray, I will try Sunlight today doubt it will work, I will also try the Mequiars Gold Class.... will drop by a friends house today to use a pressure washer....

what I need is a recommendation for a car wash I can pick up at Canadian Tire that is harsh enough to strip wax, the residue that the Clay Bar left on the car is actually really wax like, and I knew from the beginning I was never allowed to wax my car.... now I know why, I need to fix this mistake with an off the shelf car wash formula that will strip wax off the paint, what do you suggest ?


I'll report back, but so far everything else I've tried has failed.... if none of this works, I'll be paying a detailing shop a visit today

Any dishwashing soap should strip the wax off as it'll strip grease off pots and pans! Use a bit more than normal. If not, you can also fill a trigger sprayer with some APC like Megs or come by my shop and grab some, spray the car down with it and then wash like normal. I'm not sure what products are available OTC that you can get locally. I have used a citrus degreaser that strips old wax quite easily, just be sure to read the instructions of whatever you buy.

Yup! I use a pair of sprayers I got at Canadian Tire to spray APC (PowerMax3 diluted 5:1) and wheel cleaner (AutoGlym Custom Wheel Cleaner at 1:1) on the appropriate areas.

Adon: try Poorboy's slick & suds car wash + APC + bug & tar remover. that should get most of the dirt, grease / grime out.

Only on the super-dirty areas, and then I cut it even further. I need to get a foam gun if I wanna pre-soak properly.

The green top ones are a lot better than the red top ones, more leverage and easier to use.

like I said I used this before with success, and it didn't fail me.... I tested on a small area on my sideskirt where I had very sticky baked on road tar that I couldnt remove even when I tried picking it off with my nail!!!
I sprayed this on, waited about 5 seconds and that shlt got degreased with just two swipes!


and I tested it on the hood and finally swiped off all that waxy residue left over from the claybar and showtime spray...

the only real danger I know this shlt is pretty strong but it is bio degradable and it says it's safe to use as long as you wash it off with plenty of soap and water




so you guys need some tough cleaner hit up the Wal Mart and pick this up, thats where I got it...
