here's a question for u senna, since ur the gear guru on here. Whats this light modifier behind her head? I've seen them wilst reverse lighting in ppl's eye reflections. Doesnt look like a reflective umbrella. What could it be?

Yup, Kyle got it right for the most part, but it looks like an Broncolor, not a Profoto.

hows this pcw one? literally a fraction of the cost of a profoto, i assume its not wear near as durable but for in studio work should yield the same effects no?

Hmmm...dunno...they look small, and not as deep as the Broncolor or Profoto. It looks like you'll get a lot of wasted light, as the light won't be as focused. They are cheap though.

yea dirt cheap... it says its 86 inches. but i wonder if it's adjustable in parabolic effect like the pro's or pretty much like a massive umbrella. I only wish i had a large permanent studio to be able to get these toys =(

Check FM, theres a number of threads in the lighting section on the new Buff products. Its adjustable the same way an umbrella is, move the shaft in or out. I was thinking of buying the med one (64"?), but I also want a vagabond and triggers and the new silver beauty dish, so I gotta save up some coin.

seems like it produces a decent output. and according to PCB the shape used with the ab + 7" reflector produces less stray light than the profotos apparently

Seriously? Why is one $2000+ and the other less than $500? I'll have to look into it... I wonder how the quality of the light is..

actually, this one's under $120 and the others are $7000+ haha.

here's something that gives an idea on quality of light.

http://www.studiolighting.net/paul-buff-plm-review/

this gives an idea as well + chart of light output, looks pretty amazing. would be awesome of outdoor shots if the wind doesnt take it away haha.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobis...7621952919015/

i think this thing + the white cover is pretty much all the lighting gear you'll need, its so versatile. You get softbox, ringflash, silver umbrella effect all in 1. This thing would negate my need to use a bed sheet hahaha
