I was in Richmond the other day, decided to go to richmond centre....
what a mistake

I was on No. 3 and i noticed that it was ONE lane traffic only? there were pylons on the left (fast) lane. Then I noticed that the left lane was really really small.

WTF happend there? it's not like there wasn't enough space? They put frigging islands there... i assume someone effed up on the dimensions on the island and the size of the road.. because the whole left lane is soo small that anything bigger than a SUV wouldn't fit.. ie. any Big truck. f150 1 tonne truck h2. etc?

WTF is going on with Richmond.. their mayor should be fired. and this whole toll knight street bridge? What The EFFF

not only there, but around ALL SURROUNDING ROADS as well. and the flagpeople had NO idea wtf they were doing. took me 20 mins to go 2 blocks -- with the 'aide' of a flag person. awesome.

Theyre widening where the sidewalks used to be, and repainting the lines. They already finished some parts near the no3/garden city area. Its not that bad, but it is a huge waste of money how they are doing all of this, ripping up old sidewalks, replanting trees and all that crap for no real good reason.

(But the new paved roads are a lot smoother haha. Oh and the raised bike lane is STUPID)

I live in Richmond and i am brutally saying "this city is fucked up!"
I am in between 2 roads that barely any cars go by and the road is smooth as fuck yet out of nowhere they decided it needs to be "fixed". Almost all of Richmond's main roads are filled with construction. Its bad enough dumbass drivers swarm here but to add construction to make roads messed up is just beyond fucked! I was told by numerous ppl that Richmond is "fixing" all these roads even though they dont need to be fixed because they are trying to spend their budget. Apparently they have a huge surplus this year and are trying to find ways to spend it or they will not be given the same budget next year. I dont know if this is entirely true but i am seriously choked about the traffic!

at my last job it was the exact same thing. my boss would buy the dumbest shit just so he could expense it.. it was a slower year so he had to make sure the expenses were just as high or he wouldn't get as much next year...

that is the problem with our government... they don't make it easy..

4rd between westminster up 2 around williams is the shittiest fuckin road ever, i dno why they repaved the opposite side of 4rd (Westminster to alderbridge) that road was perfectly fine to begin with ! and since where on the topic of shitty drivers i was driving on the knight st bridge today and it was backed the fuck up around 7 pm and on the opposite side ther was a fuckin 5 car pileup i turn onto marine and drive up just before argyle another fuckin 2 cars smashed and like 20 ft away another 2 cars had collided ! 3 separate accidents in a 1 km radius, and emergency crew cudnt get through cuz the traffic was fuckkkt! talk about brutal drivers

as i mentioned in another thread, they're simply paving all roads leading to/near the olympic oval. its just to boost the city's image to tourists while they drive/commute around here.

they obviously don't give a shit about no.4 road because it hasn't been fixed for years. the very most they've done in the last few years is to scrape down some of the "hills" and patch up parts here and there.

as for no.3 road, it's been long planned that there would be a designated bike lane and city "beautification" with trees and benches and whatnot. not a huge surprise there.

Yea, thats the RAISED bike lane they put in beside the MASSIVE sidewalk. WHY they didnt' just section off part of the sidewalk for bike use is beyond me.

Garden City > No.3

I always avoid No.3. Even before the Canada Line construction started.
There's just too many destinations on No.3, so cars are slowing down, turning left, turning right, etc.

Garden City's just basically farm land on one side, so it's not so bad.

the absolute WORST right now is on gilbert heading southbound, as you go through the intersection of new westminster (which is being paved), there's a DIP at the beginning of the intersection then a BUMP at the end of it since only new westminster is getting new pavement and gilbert doesn't.
