| looking for a job when you already have one...
Because looking for job sucks, I decided to get any job so I can make some money while still looking for a career. Should I put my current job in my resume? what should I say to an interviewer if they ask me why do you want a new job if you already have one? how would you go about quitting your new job if you have a better job offer? I don't want to burn any bridges and want to make sure that my current employer do not get screwed over...

Yes you should put your current job on your resume. Otherwise, if they interview you and ask you what you're doing now, what will you say?
To quit your current job just be nice about it and give your 2 weeks notice and say you found something that's better for you.

As for when they ask "Why do you want this job when you already have that one?" My answer, at this point in my life, is "I'm looking for a career, not a job." I don't know if that is applicable to you or not though.
Another option would include: I feel that it's time to move on from my old job to something that will challenge me and take advantage of my skills and abilities;

If they ask, you could always say u could use the money, or perhaps you want to explore new opportunities.

ok some good responses...but I'm more concerned about the quitting process. Should I just give my two weeks or quit like that? If I was only employed for, let's say a week, is it a good idea to put my current company on my resume and allow new employer to contact them...I don't know how my current employers would say to the new employer.

your best bet is to find a job while you still have one since you be jobless incase the one your applying for doesn't take you in.

My thing I'm always wondering is when you get called in to an interview how do you take time off your current job to go to the interview if it's during business hours. You can't really be like "I need the morning off to interview for another company."

u should always give 2 weeks, some companies want longer, some dont care. really depends, but 2 weeks is proper etiquette. If you'r only employed for 1 week, i dont see the point of putting that on your resume, cuz its not really enough experience yet...

in business, as long as you give your full 2 weeks, then you won't be burning any bridges (unless you're at a tight deadline time and you know you're fucking them over!) - it's just a part of business life
as for what happens if you have an interview during work hours - ask for the time off, as you have a personal matter to take care of (they could take this as a doctor's appointment, or you can take it as 1/2 day vacation) - this isn't a huge deal
where to look - if you are a professional, there are likely a number of recruiting firms that specialize in your field - these work well & can help you with your resume (not all resumes are born equal) and interviewing techniques
if you're looking for more entry level, and are looking at large corporations, go onto their websites, they'll have a careers page where they post jobs, otherwise your workopolis types are fine too, but there's a lot of shit to get through on those sites

when i was working in the restaraunt ind. i was actively searching for a career, my head chef knew it, and was real cool about the situation, let me peace out early for an interview once, and after i got a new job when i gave him my 2 weeks he asked me if i could stay on and works nights a couple shifts a week to train the guy he hired to replace me (doing butchery and i was the hands down best at it)
now in my current job i was exploring some opertunities for gov't employment and did a couple training days on my day off at the current job, to see what the place was like. the place i was shadowing at is in the same industry as where i work so there was a measure of discretion (fuck spelling) about what i was doing
at the end of the day tho, buisness is buisness and we're all adults here, your current employer knows this and as long as you give proper notice you wont burn any bridges

my boss is the same.. she doesn't care if im looking for another job. A lot of my co workers
have other jobs bcos one job is not enough to support everything.
