SURREY (NEWS1130) - Surrey Mounties are on the scene of a bad accident that may have been caused by a street race.

Witnesses say a Corvette made a right turn onto 128th street at 72nd where it sideswiped a car and veered right into a bus stop where an elderly man was sitting. RCMP say the man's injuries are serious. No word on any arrests. Keep it here to News1130 for the very latest.

heard this on the radio just now... the driver of the wrecked corvette is 25 years old. the other vehicle that didn't stop was allegedly another corvette, possibly yellow in color.

Latest update:

An elderly man is in hospital after a Corvette slammed into him in Surrey. Witnesses say there may have been a street race.

The victim was waiting at a bus stop at 72 Avenue and 128 Street and even this morning, the bench is still flipped over backwards, the signs of the bus stop have been sheared off and are lying across the sidewalk.
Cpl. Dave Jones with Surrey RCMP says around 6:00 p.m. a black Corvette came careening off 72nd, clipping another car, "The Corvette subsequently lost control, hit an individual sitting at the bus stop. He sustained severe injuries to his legs and it's not known at this time, whether or not he's going to make it."
Witnesses say the Corvette was travelling alongside a yellow sports car which took off. The driver of the Corvette was arrested. He's a 25-year-old man from Surrey and is being questioned.
At last report, the 83-year-old victim was in critical condition, heading into surgery.

makes no sense to me personally for someone racing to try and take a right turn all of a sudden, (according to the news)... could have been as simple as a douche bag just driving fast and being stupid, dont jump to conclusions.

I see where you're coming from but I believe roach is EI himself and I think he was just venting and not singling out EI's.

The sad part is if the vette driver does get charged he'll most likely get off with a suspended license and probation and I bet he'll appeal the suspension and get his license back because he has to go to "work" or "school".

The driver has a court date in January. We can all hope he gets what's coming for him.
