HOV lanes

They just installed HOV lanes in kelowna. From what I have read, I'm not allowed to drive in it if it is just me in the vehicle. (i can drive with a passenger tho right?) This being said. You are allowed to drive in a hov lane between intersections to make a turn. As long as I technically move in and out of a lane atleast once between intersections I can avoid being ticketed? I'm not saying I wont abide by the rules, but just looking for the technicality of it as I've never used a hov lane before and my home is 2 blocks from work. What is with these solid double white lines? One section is completely white from intersection to intersection making it so I cant turn right onto my road.

Also, every road around my house first initally turns into the HOV as its the outside lane. I am already seeing people confused and when they turn they miss the hov lane completely and turn into the middle lane causing havoc for oncoming traffic.

Just write rules, and YOUR experiences with these lanes.

I have no idea what the lanes look like there but generally...you may not cross a solid line to enter or leave a HOV lane. You may only do so where the dividing lines are broken. From what you are saying the double solid line extends right across the intersection???? You may only ride in a HOV lane if you are complying with the requirements that are posted. You must enter the nearest lane when you make a turn at an intersection but if you are not permitted to drive the HOV then you cannot enter it, therefore you enter the next lane that you can legally enter and that might mean skipping the HOV.

if it extends from intersection to intersection, how the heck is one supposed to make a right turn at the intersection legally

When you make a turn at an intersection, you are required to turn into the first available lane. If you don't qualify for HOV use, then you turn into the first available non-HOV lane and be careful about the move.

Leaving the intersection appears to be simple with the right turn, as you must turn as closely as practical to the curb, which means you can pass by a lane that is not intended for your travel. Left appears different however, as it says you must turn from the lane nearest the center line and you must not turn unless you are there. If a solid line prevents you from getting there, you are effectively prevented from turning left.
