2 weeks into Canada Line full operation ...

and I'm Loving It (tm)!!
Traffic along granville st is freaking AWESOME now with none of those long haul busses on it. As i have said in the other skytrain thread, i travel along that route 4 times / day, every day. i used to be ALWAYS either stuck behind busses or in traffic. for 2 weeks now, i have not been delayed AT ALL.
combine that with all the diesel fumes that aren't being released into the air (and money savings from it, and drivers wages) makes me a HUGE supporter of skytrain.
massive infrastructure == win! :thumbsup:
(i still say fuck translink though -- they are clueless. and fuck gregor 'yes tolls should be placed __________' robertson too)

The trains are packed, but not sardine-packed. It's livable and a lot faster than the B-line.

I withhold my comment until they finish fixing the damned no.3 road. Now it's WIP and it's unbearable to drive on. Also traffic has been diverted down to Garden City Rd which I use everyday and that's bummer.

skytrain = new tolls on old bridges = diverted/cancelled buses (480,491,492,488,etc) = fucked up #3 = more bums in rmd = more car break-ins = FTL

Do you guys actually think the thought process of some people is "I will now start stealing cars because of their is a skytrain line here"? I'm pretty sure these car thieves were already car thieves before the skytrain was complete.

More like "I'm gonna go to Richmond and try my luck on some luxury cars because I can get there without paying or wait on a bus"

Because there are fewer luxury cars and limited selection in Vancouver or specifically, downtown Vancouver than Richmond!

i drive down granville street from richmond all work-week and i've hardly noticed any difference at all. it still takes me ~30mins to drive downtown. seems like only the weekend has slightly improved (~5mins).

We all know people in Vancouver are poor because they spent all their money on their houses.

Why do people keep saying there are more bums in Richmond now? Is this actually true, or are people just assuming it? Have you thought of the possibility that all the bums in Richmond have now migrated to Vancouver? :lol

Haha, i want to know if there are more bums in Richmond too.
The only thing coming into Vancouver from Richmond might be C-lais on foot, bumping into people in downtown.

it seems traffic on oak bridge during rush hour has improved slightly... nothing to wow about, but it's notable.

it's true theres more bums in Richmond... the last week I spotted for the 1st time, some guy holding a sign asking for spare change, on the small island seperating lane directions. This was on Westminster and Gilbert.
1st FREAKING TIME IN RICHMOND MAN, I WAS THRILLED. I wanted to just open my window and yell to the guy "it aint gonna work, richmond speaks chinese"

hey guys im filling in for pandalove. on behalf of his duties i'd like to comment in an equally awesome way by saying that the skytrain is a conduit for criminals, therefore, it would not be unreasonable to dub it the "crimetrain"

LoL westminister and gilbert!!?!?!? weird that he'd pick that spot, I'd go for no. 3 during jams, but like you said, chinese people wouldn't give a fuck, thats
what seperates the hobos from the pack ;)

It doesn't matter if they learn Chinese. Chinese people just won't give money. They don't give money to schools and hospitals and crippled old beggars, so I wouldn't expect them to give money to bums either.
skytrain is great for richmond - shite for anyone south of richmond
i'm now back in my car as i can't stand the bus/skytrain - there was nothing wrong with the nice luxury coaches that were used for ladner/tsawwassen/white rock - they were always full...
now, more cars on the road from these areas
fuck you gregor, you're a twat! (nothing to do with the skytrain, but i just hate him)

w000t another stereotypical blanket statement from skinnypupp
most hobos are just fucking lazy. why do they deserve handouts? the safety net in Canada is more than sufficient for getting back on your feet
chinese culture heavily believes in hard work, with a lot growing up in competitive 3rd world conditions... rest assured they won't have sympathy for no bums
chinese culture is also heavily against drug use
you do the math
but reading your statement it seems like chinese people are just born with a very cruel human nature... its innate and ingrained in our dna

Is that suppose to be a not equal sign? If so, then you are incorrect.
The Canada line is a part of skytrain. Skytrain is the brand that is used for the entire rapid transit system.

Since you're cursing it, do you have issues with all 3 lines of the Skytrain? I thought this thread was about the Canada Line that's been operating for 2 weeks, not for 24 years.

Woot, someone completely misinterprets my post, and tries to call me out for it! Yey! Go you!
Who said anything about bums deserving handouts? I fucking hate them, and will never give them money. Don't think that I am defending these poor bums living in Richmond, where cruel Chinese people will never give them money.
As far as Chinese people not donating to good causes on the street, it's a personal observation I've made after living in Hong Kong on and off for 5 years (and the last 3 years straight). When I see people trying to raise funds for schools, charities, hospitals, senior centres, you should see what these poor fuckers have to do to try to get people to pay attention to them. Sometimes I feel so bad for them that I'll give them some money, even when I have no idea wtf they are raising money for. I am not saying Chinese people are "evil" and will not donate money at all. Maybe they do, I don't know. But from what I have observed (and you come across this a lot in Hong Kong), it's almost impossible to get an HKers attention long enough to get them to donate money on the street. And bums have it even worse, being bums and all. :lol
Next time try to make sure you interpret posts properly before you start to put others down.
