my favourite right now for convenience sake is e-canteen.
it's pretty much always open and the prices are nice

not the cleanest place though...

Chop: steak place with awesome decor. It's like a fancy cactus club. reviews are on the board.
E-canteen: super cheap value, their fried rice / noodles are decent, but their choose 1,2,3 our of steak/lamb/chicken/fish combo really gets me sick each time. I always get food poisioning afterwards.
Pho Lan (# 3 and granville) is my favorite one.
hakkasan: would be the decent place for lunch
pearl tea castle: hyped but it's not bad and decent.
taco Louie: lansdowne mall for mexican food.
HKYK: all you can eat hot pot that's decent.
Shota: all you can eat sushi that's a TAD better than richmond sushi
Shanghai river: shanghai food that's not bad.
Mad greek:westminister Gilbert
Yaohan mall: cheapest 3 course or even 4 course meal u can buy during closing time.

so many more but these are the things i can think of.

My regular places in richmond:

Nanchu for their monkfish liver and to drink in general.

Wo Fung (Aberdeen Food Court) for their chicken wings :P

Chop (great patio, awesome drinks, bad food)

Manzo (Alexandria) is good for small bites..robata.. their chicken skin is dope :D

Cao Van (Buswell and Saba) - best bun bo hue ever

Top Shanghai (good, but greasy shanghainese food.... be prepared to wait for a good 30 minutes on weekends though)

Shady Island (Steveston) - I only eat their seafood chowder... omg drool

Mui Garden - for their beef curry and flavoured rice

Pajo's (Steveston) - fish and chips

Jang Mo Jib (Alexandria) for their pork bone stew

BBQ place under superstore - for a quick lunch of bbq pork and rice

Well Tea - Taiwanese BBT place but I like their ketchup omelette fried rice

Wait.

Let me get this straight.

You're recommending E-Canteen based on super cheap value however, you get sick each time resulting in food poisoning afterwards? Something isn't right.

i used to go there for lunch all the time. i stopped going because the service just kept getting worse every time. got sick once too. i had to ask for our drinks like 5-6 times the servers kept blowing us off saying it was coming. didnt come till most of us were already doen our food.

i like prata man. its not the cleanest by white ppl standards, but the food is on point. its also cheap.

ecanteen sucks balls

went there yesterday. Dirty ,disgusting and ghetto. I'd rather go to a clean place to eat that isn't furnished by Ikea.

When my milk tea came, it looked like someone took a sip ot of it. It was 75% full. Asked the waitress to take it back and she gave me such a dirty look like i insulted her mother. Who needs this shit. No tip and i'm never going back. fuck that place in the ass.

Also, Li Do breakfast ftw

While I do go to Wo Fung when I happen to be at Aberdeen when it comes to Fung Sa chicken wings I shall stick to the person that started it all in Richmond. Yes, the old ass place that used to exit in the old Aberdeen Mall which is located upstairs from that mall that has umm UFO and what used to be Pop Toy where you buy fake games. Id give an address but fucking google isn't loading for me right now. Fucking internet.

wow, some great posts.
jam bo jib, pajos, and how could i forget Kam Do
and yes, icemiko: the TW place beside Richmond Sushi is dope.

bcrdukes: ecanteen has shitty combos, but all the rest of the fried rice / noodles are still great.

i know i'm going to get flamed for this but Mui Garden curry was ok, i don't find it epic. However, i did go to tropica in aberdeen (we had their curry and it was pretty darn good), then again, i went with the owner so... maybe that's why.

For good sushi try Tokyo Joe's on Ackroyd, next the plaza with Nando's. Big rolls, and big pieces of sashimi. They also have all the usuals, like rice dishes and such.
Really good spider roll!

Also the shanghai place in Aberdeen has pretty good shanghai buns (in the food court)

hmm what else? For dinner I usually go to Manzo (scallop pizza..mmm), ayce hot pot, get some takeout at steveston pizza, alleluia for cheap cafe food, well tea for bbt and food, twinkle for bbt and snacks...

shanghai restaurant with the big vase outside in the plaza with td and staples across from richmond centre has super good shanghai buns and crab with rice cakes (so goooodd)

also, anyone know of a good donair place in richmond? Have some trouble finding any donair places at all here...

Tokyo Joe's is terrible. The imitation crab in the rolls are soggy and the sashimi is overpriced. I went since the reviews on a friend's recommendation and the reviews were okay on dinehere.ca, but was quite disappointed. The lady acts all Japanese but I think I heard her speaking Mandarin in the back.

If you want good and authentic Japanese food, go to Ichiro or Maruwa.

Jap food - ichiro in steveston is really good imo, AYCE i go to ninzaku..if you want fast stuff izumiya beside espot is not bad too..

+1 for LA GRILLE...appetizers for $5.95 and 3x the portions at other restaurants haha..

+1 for the hotpot rice thing at empire..the other restaurant that sells beef organs n stuff is pretty good too..

italian tomatoes has good pasta

pho place in nando's mall at ackroyd...

all those chinese places..kam do..li do...kingspark..

ocean harbour on number 3 road has good chinese food...

shanghainese place beside blenz in the save on foods mall...better than shanghai river..

oh...public market food court has a few restaurants that sells yummy noodles..like hand made and those shaved with a knife..

all i can think of right about now...

Now that i know your family economic background... Its no wonder. To a commoner like me living off my own earnings ane a bit of my parents' middle class earnings; going to such lengths for a lunch simply doesn't make any sense. As well, i can't in through all the places everyday since in economic terms i am a "expenditure minimizer" whereas you are classified as a "utility maximizer"

Yup, Maruwa's between the Tim Horton's and Sleep Country. The only knock against them is the fact that their menu is limited. But the stuff they do have is good/fresh, so no complaints from me.

Here's a copy of their menu, from what appears to be 2006:

http://www.menuetc.com/v/menus/MaruwaSushi/ (crap, website seems to be down at the moment)

The menu hasn't changed much since then, but the prices have gone up slightly. They're closed on Sundays, and holidays, and don't open for lunch on Sat.

You're recommending E-Canteen based on super cheap value however, you get sick each time resulting in food poisoning afterwards? Something isn't right.

Don't people report the food to some food inspection company? Like if it repeatedly gets you sick, then it is report worthy.

as you probably don't know, at optimal level, given that you two are the same agents, your expenditure minimization problem and his utility maximization problem yields the same demand function. :D

that is, even if Jeffield minimizes expenditure, his food demand function will still kick a normal human being's ass (assuming everyone is poorer than him "as we all know"), since his demand function for food is probably "undefined"

sorry for being a total nerd.
