anyone have comments about this unit? i want to replace my mom's antique desktop with this, and i've never owned a laptop before so i'm not sure what to get her.

Look for something with a slower processor and just ddr2 memory. It will be much cheaper and your mom won't be able to tell the difference anyway.

And why don't you just replace her desktop with another desktop? A larger monitor would be easier on her eyes (probably) and a monitor + desktop combo should be easier on your wallet compared to a new laptop.

your mom doesn't need a new laptop.
I am sure she's happier if you hook up a P4 or Celeron with a large LCD TV, so she can see the text clearly
