EI benefit Qs

I got a few EI benefit questions wondering if anyone has any input. I Can't seem to find any answers on website and the phone line is always busy.

What does Sickness benefits constitute? Can one get sickness benefits if he/she feels hostile at work because of co-workers behaviors? For example; he/she feels excluded from everyone else, or co-workers make racial comments?
Or he/she feels no sense of complishment at work due to the work environment or comments from co-workers or superiors?

Based on some of the issues from above, can the employee qualify for EI benefit?

The employee will have to provide a note from the family doctor to the employer???

Thanks for any inputs

that is not what sickness benefits are for, you need doctor's proof to show that you are actually sick.

Only way to really prove your "sickness" benefits was if your doctor would write up a note for increased stress? Otherwise your sickness is not in fact a sickness.

Doc's note said

"Off work for a few week."

Didn't state any reason for off work. Don't know if it's going to fly

This doesn't sound like a EI concern at all.

BUMP!

Has anyone applied for EI benefits when their hours were significantly reduced for "top-up" payments? Anyone here work for Service Canada?

You're work has to agree with it if you are talking about Work Share.

While we are on the subject of EI, I will be going to school soon for my apprenticeship. How long does it take for EI to kick in when you are off for school, and returning to work after?

when i went for my apprenticeship, i didn't get anything from them until the 3th week of school. mind you, the school gave us the first day off to do all our EI application. (it was a 6 week course)

don't forget to claim for gas too!
