His motorcycle is chain driven like a bicycle. He felt his chain was dirty and wanted to clean it with WD40 and a rag.

He put the bike up on a stand so the rear wheel is off of the ground and let the bike idle in gear so the rear wheel is spinning.
He used the rag to clean the chain, and the rag got caught taking his hand with it into the rear sprocket. His fingers were between the chain and the sprocket which in turn acted like a guillotine.
