1006 model is junk. my cousin in HK said the 1012 is out in HK and he tried out a demo model at a computer store there and it seems to do 1080p well

what makes the r3600 better? the intent is to hook this up to the LCD TV in the living room for internet use.
1012 is ion based. r3600 was pretty much the first ion base announced. not any better, but similar spec.

Okay, yeah... as ecsw said, I guess it's about the same. I didn't read the specs on the one you originally posted... didn't know there was a newer version Eee Box that uses Ion.
^ lol. me either until everyone started to talk about 1080p.
dual Atom with ion should run 1080p smoothly in theory.

yap. r3600 has been announced for long time and it was finally here for a while. I would think it will ASUS take a little longer to get here.
r3600 has the game accessories like wii or something like that. ;)

had a rough start last night. i opened up the box for the revo and there was only hardware inside... no install manual or literature, cd's, etc... i went ahead and set it up as best as i could, but some of the automated install tells me to "refer to owner's manual" or to "install cd". i know the revo dosen't come with an optical drive, but... i guess i have to call NCIx today, but i'm not sure if they will help me. a friend said that they will probably just tell me to call acer and deal with it myself

no it's meant for my mom so i didn't get much seat time with it. i'll see her this weekend so i'll have some more time to figure it out. but right now i'm having more trouble with router issues at the moment... i don't know why it's so slow
also there is a sh*tload of useless software they throw into the computer that i have to clean out. and the last time i used windows vista was a few years back when IT installed it at work, and then removed it a few days later when most of our apps started crashing... i'm hoping not for a repeat of that

nope. i printed out that page before buying it last week and it was $10 less.
i went back to ncix yesterday and they told me they couldn't help me with the missing manuals and told me to find it myself online, and acer does not include any install cd's (eg. windows) so i better back up or hope/pray it dosen't die on me. they also told me to download the latest firmware for the router and now it's even slower than before :flamemad:

I don't think many computers still come with install CDs unless stated. There's usually a way to format without it anyhow.
You should get Win7 though, Vista's a pain, and Linksys is terribly slow =|

Does it have a recovery partition like most laptops do?
Worst case, just grab the serial key off it and download an OEM version of the OS (and use the key you have)

can you please recommend to me another router? i went with linksys because that was what NCIX recommended, and so far it's been a total fail. should i be using tomato firmware instead? http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

i'm not using it for gaming... does that matter?
i can't make any sense at all out of the operating manual. i swear it's not written in english
i struggled with it all night... using speedtest.net, at one point i got 2.50Mb/s on a 3.0DSL line, but then a second test right afterwards barely registered 0.11Mb/s, and then timed out :flamemad:

hmmmm... not sure it may also be your internet supplier?
i recently upgraded mine with shaw to have high speed extreme......
it works much faster......
try plugging internet directly to the revo.... see if there is significant change in speed.....
if there is.. then its definately the router u have a problem with.........

yes when i stop using the router and stay with the cable connection i have no internet speed issues and everything works well.
i ended up losing my internet connection completely last night with the router. spent a hour with the 1-800 linkys assist rep and didn't get very far and i couldn't stay awake long enough to continue struggling with it (they are a 24 hour service)... looks like i know what i'm going to be doing for the long thanksgiving holiday.

3. Has no PCI-E or AGP (Only 1 Legacy PCI)
4. Has (2) Int USB connections.
5. Has 2 SATA Connections but only includes 1 SATA Cable
6. Does not include a SATA Power Splitter or Molex > SATA Cable.
Case;
1. Has a FDD Bay which can double as a Hard Drive bay.
2. Includes Post Speaker.
3. Has room for 1 Expansion Card
4. Only Supports (1) Int USB connection.
5. Power Supply only has 1 SATA Power Connection
6. Reminds me of a shoebox.
7. Tight spacing and cables that are too long.
8. Loose Power Cable could risk damage or fire.
sounds like a piece of crap. you can't really expect anything for $150........
on the other hand......... i just got myself a shuttle.......... on sale right now for $265..... i wonder how this will work out.

and that ISROCK $600 and still no wifi........
if you were to spend $600 on a htpc.. u might as well just create your own...
so many other options...... i think dual core atom can barely run 780 P

sorry for the lack of updates. i've been struggling with all the stupid things windows vista does. all the experience i have with vista was way back when it was first introduced, and they installed it at work for all of 2 weeks before going back to XP beaause of all the problems it created. i did get an email from acer saying i qualify to download windows 7 but is it safe???
furthermore the e-gear HDMI cable NCIX sold me crapped out on me. i have to go back and see if they will replace it for me because i'm still under the 30 day store warranty.
