World's Slowest Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R: Rear-Engine VW Powered

1. Known as the Nissan Skyline GT-R buggy, this car has a rediculous high-water stance since the car was specifically built to have a high clearance and be able to make it down a stair case. It was used in the scene where Paul Walker took the staircase shortcut in the movie.

2. Where is the legendary RB26DETT? Mid-engined RB26DETT?

3. Lets take a look in the back. It is powered by VW motor!

So this car was purposely built for that fast and furious scene or what?
I can't think of any other reason somebody would just murder the car like that.

If it was geared right that small engine could do a lot of things with relatively low power

why do you think a semi can haul more than a zr1 corvette?
the vette has more horsepower..

that's pretty cool. im guessing engine in the back to serve two purposes. one is to keep the car mobile, so film set ppl dont have to keep pushing a chassis around, and two is to act as a weight ballast because if there was more weight on the front, it would lose control on the steep incline of the stairs

except for the fact that in the scene the car dropped down a flight of stairs not climb up of it

It doesnt really matter whats in it because its only going to end up on display at Universal Studios. Like those Tokyo Drift cars.

Higher profit margin. I don't know how much an actual done up R34 costs, but I'm sure if I was funding this movie, I'd rather have that extra 50,000 in my pocket for myself. Wouldn't you?

thumper
09-25-2009, 06:24 PM
well... maybe all is not lost?

like someone posted already, the r34 still not legal, but the donor bug chassis this thing is on must have a legit title so technically wouldn't this thing be legal for street use (assuming it can be made to pass inspection)?

clean it up some more, swap the engine out with a wrx sti setup like the other bug i posted a few weeks back, drop those coilovers and get spacers for those wheels... hm.

the car was BUILT for a function... they pay people to come up with solutions for stunts and this is what they did... and it worked! look at that.

I don't see what's wrong with that.

None of you guys knew until now. So what's the problem? Maybe you guys are just angry that Hollywood had this all covered up for so many years and you just found out now. Are movies gonna spend more than necessary to film a scene with a car getting all banged up?

I don't think so.
