Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Basically going to help a friend sell his car while he's out of the country. If a buyer comes through, will we have to wait till buddy gets back or can I get buddy to sign the ownership transfer papers ahead of time?

yes you can get ur buddy to sign the detachable slip on the bottom of his insurance paper, and sign the seller part of the transfer paper as well, that way u dont have to wait for him to come back.

no, as long as his DL # is filled out in the seller part of the transfer papers, all the buyer gotta do is go to an insurance broker, do all the papers get plates then head back to where the car is slap on the plates and hes good to go.

Well buddy wants to keep insurance on it while he's gone for test drives and shit, so can't transfer ownership to me. I'll probably keep his car then.
:D
Thanks for the help guys!

You can probably try to get him to sign a manual cancellation form, so that after you sell his car, you can cancel the insurance.
