Home owners should be allowed to do whatever they want to the home invaders. That's my kind of justice. :D

Canada needs the Flordia Home Invasion law
http://www.snowbirds.org/html/gunlaw.html
The Florida law provides that a person, not themselves engaged in an unlawful activity, who is attacked in a place where they have the legal right to be (i.e. a dwelling, residence, occupied vehicle or public place) does not have an obligation to retreat and may meet force with matching comparable force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to him/herself or to another person or to prevent a forcible felony.
Once the incident has been investigated by the police, the Florida law provides immunity from criminal prosecution of, and civil action against, the victim who has used justifiable force in the defence of him/herself or another person.
It is important to also note that Florida is not alone with this type of legislation. The majority of U.S. jurisdictions do not impose a duty to retreat before a person (the victim) may resort to deadly force if threatened with death or great bodily harm.

I'm with you. Right to defend your property. Maybe Harper can do something like that since he is so into American ideas.

ya we have some weak rules here. Canadians like to protect the rights of criminals rather than our own rights. Criminal breaks in to your house and you hurt him pretty bad you can end up getting sued I dont know where the logic is in that. I like the USA you try doing a home invasion down in the south youll have a shotgun pointed at your head when you kick down the door

you get sued in the states too, every state is different many states allow the criminal to sue the person of the home they broke into (infact ive only heard it, burglars suing homeowners, coming from the states)

Lots of states have something like this. It's known as the "Castle Doctrine" in the US.
A Castle Doctrine (also known as a Castle Law or a Defense of Habitation Law) is an American legal concept arising from English Common Law[1] that designates one's place of residence (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as one's car or place of work) as a place in which one enjoys protection from illegal trespassing and violent attack. It then goes on to give a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend that place (his/her "castle"), and/or any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. In a legal context, therefore, use of deadly force which actually results in death may be defended as justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.
Castle Doctrines are legislated by state, and not all states in the US have a Castle Doctrine. The term "Make My Day Law" comes from the landmark 1985 Colorado statute that protects people from any criminal charge or civil suit if they use force – including deadly force – against an invader of the home.[2] The law's nickname is a reference to the famous line uttered by Clint Eastwood's character Harry Callahan in the 1983 film Sudden Impact, "Go ahead, make my day."
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming have adopted Castle Doctrine statutes, and other states (Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington) are currently considering "Stand Your Ground" laws of their own.

It's a beautiful thing.

Unlike Canada, no American Judge or Jury is stupid enough to side with the home invader. well there's OJ, but that's another story...
