My wife and I (more my wife) have got in the habit of giving left overs to homeless after dining out. She also assembled her cousins and friends a few times to hit up a sky train station and give out home made sandwiches and chips, snacks and water.

Parenting, you're doing it right :D did he end up helping him in his garden?
No, he told my son that he was just finishing and then ruffled his hair a little. I could see the smile from my house.

this random act's of kindness thread is excellent and always put's a smile on my face seeing everyone being so caring and unselfish but I would like to tell you guys a random act of kindness that someone did to me today.
I have a 15 year old Bengal leopard cat that I love more then anything in the world. I came home from work yesterday and right away I know something is wrong with him, Sunday he slept all day and yesterday he was walking and talking really weird. He wasn't eating food including wet food and treats that I never give him. I'm scared as fuck cause I love this guy so much and I post on FB what's a good local vet I should use because I don' trust vets these days since I have heard and experienced a number of bad stories.
I wake up this morning and one of my customers from work posted saying one of his best friends dad's owns Guildford Animal hospital and he wouldn't take a pet anywhere else. I send him a text thanking him and I book a appointment first thing this morning. I get to the vet tell them what's up and they are going over my cat saying they want to admit him for the day and give him a IV since hes very dehydrated and do blood tests... Fuck that's going to cost a lot but I don't care I would do anything for my little guy. Well the receptionist comes in looks at her paper and says perfect I don't need to quote you on the pricing?????
I'm like UMMMM WTF DO YOU MEAN??? well it turns out my customer called his buddy and his buddy called the vet and told them that I don't have to pay for anything since I'm a close friend and haven't even met the guy before... My jaw straight up hit the ground and it hasn't moved because no one in my life has ever done something so thoughtful for me before especially someone I haven't met before.
Turn's out my cat has a bad pancreatic infection and hes getting a ultrasound later tonight and spending the night at the vet still all free no charge!! The service has been top notch and for them it's not about the money its about the love for the animals so if you live in Surrey and are looking for a vet no question go to Guildford Animal hospital because with me they gained a customer for life!!
Here's a pic of him I took on the vet table

I can't beat that...but I'll add to keep the thread going.
GF and I were at Silvercity Coquitlam the other night, and we were wasting time at the arcade there before the movie.
For some reason, I was on a massive roll, and won 3 little smurf dolls with the machine with the claws that you pick up the prizes.
We were then walking around, when we saw a mom and two little girls, who looked a little out of place in a movie theater - almost nervous - so the GF and I walked to the girls, asked their mom if it was ok to give them 2 dolls, and asked them to pick the ones they wanted.
At first they were all pretty wtf, but immediately they beamed and took one each, and thanked us.

After a night of drinking o monday i went to the mcdonalds on granville for some junior chickens. When i got to my seat I noticed a sim card on the ground, obviously from a stolen phone(or a rent-a-phone). Out of the goodness of my heart i tried to bring it to the cashier so they could put it in a lost and found. Unfortunately the cashier had no idea what a friggen sim card was and had no idea what a lost and found was. I left it on the counter after countless attempts to explain the concept of both of those things. At least I tried...

Was hanging out with a buddy at Tims, when a homeless guy comes up to me and asks for some change so he could grab a coffee. I told him I didn't have any change and but I would buy him a coffee. So I line up and place my order for him. When I received the coffee, the manager told me it was really nice of me to do that for him so he gave me a free coffee and a donut as well. I don't like the strawberry shortcake donuts so I gave the homeless guy my donut too. Instant karma.

Those who are wondering my cat actually survived that and he's driving me crazy like before crying to get outside. The vet bill wasn't actually free my customer saved me $500 off the bill so I only had to pay $1000. Still a lot of cash but I love my little guy and was more then ok paying that.

Donated $100 to relatives searching for their missing Calgary family members yesterday.. if you have the means to donate, here is the link: Let's help out our wonderful friends Jesse and Nancy! | Other - YouCaring.com (http://www.youcaring.com/other/let-s-help-out-our-wonderful-friends-jesse-and-nancy-/204094)
I started doing this a month or so ago. It all started when some random dude was roaming around the McD's in Ferndale, Wa. He asked if I had anything for him to eat. I said yes, I just happen to have an apple pie. Those things are like 50 cents! He was pretty happy. Now every time I trek out to Seattle I purchas 10 pies and give them out to people who look like they need it. I shop at Uwajimaya in the Chinatown area of Seattle. There's no shortage of down and out people.
Sometimes the McDs doesn't have ten pies, but it only takes them 15 minutes or less to make them. Five bucks and fifteen minutes of my time. Hell, I spend 20 times that much time on RS, lol. Also, so easy to hand them out, being in boxes and whatnot.

dilemma time:
i found a transit card at metro station & i kind i wanna return it, but its a real pain in the ass to do it as i have to.travel to the headquarters which is.a hassle
it has 72 bux in it, which is more then mine but its still not my money & now i duno if i should return it or just keep it (this will be my 3rd transit card if i keep it)
I have no idea how those passes work, but am I correct in assuming there is no name on it? If so, returning it doesn't benefit anyone, except Translink, and they've made their money off of it already.
How about giving it to someone you know and ask them to donate whatever money they think it is worth to a charity.
Again, I have no idea how those things work, as I only take transit once in a blue moon. If that card/pass has a name on it, then that's a different story.
I went to the Powell Street Festival today. I parked on Cordova Street across from Oppenheimer Park. I decided to cut through tent city. Wanted to see first hand what kind of shithole it was. Place was kind of abandoned. Anyway. I hear this yelling in the distance. A "Fuck you!" I walk toward where the yelling came from and there's this vagrant lying on the grass cursing and swearing. He sees me and says, "Hi." I ask him whatsup and he tells me he needs help getting back onto his wheel chair. I can see why nobody in tent city is helping him. He smelled pretty bad. I'm talking urine mixed in with god who knows what else. I held my breath and helped him get up. I am suffering from a bad case of De Quervain's Tendinosis, so my left hand is pretty useles. I had to have him put his arms around my neck while I held his wheel chair from moving/flipping.
He got back in after a bit of struggling. At the end he thanked me profusely. So much for fellow homeless people helping each other out, eh?
Good deed for the day. Now need to take a sonic shower, LOL.

There's a homeless guy I often see at Timmy's on my way to work. Asked for money (which I hate giving away) so I got him a breakfast sandwich instead. He had a cart full of scrap and cans, so I asked him if he wanted a bag of cans. Of course he said sure, so I told him to be at the same Timmy's the next morning and I'd bring them, not sure if he'd show up.
Sure enough he was there so I gave him my extra-large black garbage bag stuffed full of cans. His eyes lit up, he said thanks and I went to work. At coffee I told a couple of other guys about him, and they said we should give him any extra cans at work. I also mentioned he looked like a metal collector, and one of the other guys said we should put aside some scrap for him (of course, we go through a LOT of scrap metal at work and have a guy who picks up a truck full every week).
So I stop by Timmy's and the guy's not there. I keep stopping by for almost 2 weeks and never see the guy. I figure he's moved on to another area. Couple weeks later at work my co-worker says "hey, is that the guy here to pick up the cans"? Sure enough, he happens to be pushing his cart down our street. So I flag him down and we give him our cans and some scrap.
He started coming by every 2-3 weeks and we give him our saved cans and some "choice" scrap metal (we set aside copper and aluminum for him, as it's what gets the most money). I thought his eyes lit up when I first gave him that bag of cans - you should have seen them when we loaded his cart up with a bunch of scrap aluminum.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen him all summer. It really makes you wonder if something happened to him that caused him to stop coming by.

Well...
Was in a Tim Horton's drive thru and for whatever reason, I decided to pay for the person behind me. I'm not sure what came about me at that moment but I thought "hey, what's the worst that could happen? I spend $2.50 more on top of my bagel and steeped tea?"
well... I guess the person behind me was making a coffee/doughnut run for their office or something because their bill came to $23.00. Lol..
I still paid for it and pulled up to wait for them to pull up to the pick up window. Gave them a wave and drove off. That person gave me a thumbs up. #FEELSGOODMAN

I was at 7-11 and there was a homeless guy outside asking for change. I went there to get a whole $6.99 pizza for myself to eat. I knew I couldn't finish it all by myself so when I left the store I asked him if he wanted a slice of pizza and he looked very happy. He grabbed a slice and then I told him to take another one which he refused but I insisted and he took another slice.
Then some high school teenagers also hanging outside 7-11 asked me for a cigarette :rukidding:

le gf and i strolling by metrotown, and found a woman's purse by an isolated bench. i suspected it had already been rummaged through, as nothing was left but make-up and lots of government + confidential documents. called her number, but no service. skimmed through her documents to find her husband's number, and called him to arrange for a pick-up instead. as suspected, his wife lost it outside Toys R Us, somebody picked it up, ransacked it, and discarded it.
later that evening, walked by a homeless man sitting outside Marketplace IGA crying out for change to buy some food. didn't look him in the eye as i didn't have change, but i came out of the market and surprised him with sandwiches and water

Arirang and I were heading over to a friend's house but decided to stop can grab some viet subs for everyone there.
As we're walking into the bakery to get the subs, we notice a homeless guy outside. We make our order and I grabbed an extra sub and gave it to the homeless guy outside. Except when I gave it to him, the homeless guy said he doesn't want it and wants money instead.
I was a little in awe at this point and I told him that I don't have any change since I spent it on the sub. The guy just kept saying how he wants money and not the sub. This may be a byproduct of being Canadian but I apologized for not having change and just handed him the sub and went on my way.
As we're driving away, the guy was already eating the sub.
Even now, I still have no idea what happened and how to really feel about it.

The reason why he was saying that is he only wants money to buy crack or meth... Of course he started eating it cause its food and for sure hes hungry but the only thing on his mind is getting that next fix. One reason why I would never give a homeless person money.

What would you do if you saw a set of keys sticking out of a car's trunk keyhole?
On Saturday, I came across someone who had left their keys in the trunk keyhole (a Corolla) in the Lansdowne Target parking lot. I brought them to Target customer service and included a description of the car (& license plate: FRM-047 in case you know this person) so that Target could make an announcement over their PA system. Then I also left a note on the car saying where I had taken their keys. Drove past the area later and the car was gone so hopefully the owner got their keys back (or a Target employee stole the car)!
Funny thing is I had no paper so I wrote my note on the back of a business card for the person who sold me my car 14 yrs ago! Car owner might think of calling that salesperson.
just cross out name on card next time.......
yeah, it's a good thing you saw it and not some dishonest person.
We are all car owners and we forget sometimes when we are in a hurry. I wish we had something like rep power bars, like they do on some forums. I'd give you lots...... thank you long tme.

On my drive home tonight, I happened to see a Husky wandering along the sidewalk by himself in Richmond. I didn't see an owner near by so I quickly pulled a u-turn back to the dog. Pulled over and called the dog over. He was more than happy to see someone. Luckily he had a collar with a number on it. Called the number and the owner gratefully came by to pick him up. It seemed like he was about 4-5 blocks away from home.
Another lost dog situation prevented!

I have an International Student here from Brazil and this morning he seemed a little bummed out. I asked him why the frown? He tells me in Brazil today is Kids' Day - where parents buy something and/or do something nice with their kids - and he was feeling a little homesick.
Then he tells me that him and a few other Brazillian students were heading out to Boston Pizza for lunch. I was heading out with my sons to go to the beach, but on my way I stopped in at Boston Pizza, bought a $100 gift card, and explained to them to give it to my 'son' coming in with other friends. I showed them a pic, wrote down his name and about an hour later I get a text from him thanking him for lunch - and his friends were blown away. :) I replied that it is Kids' Day in Canada today as well.

This was really touching and I like how Bieksa is acting like its no big deal as well.
http://globalnews.ca/news/1722843/how-kevin-bieksa-buying-a-star-wars-lego-set-changed-a-young-mans-life/
Finishing a Lego Set is a satisfying moment for any person.
For Wilson Liu, a two-year journey completing a giant Death Star set carried extra significance.
It’s not just that Wilson is blind, or that he has a fatal degenerative disorder. And it’s not just that Wilson was given the Lego Set during a chance encounter with a Vancouver Canuck.
For Wilson, finishing a three thousand, eight hundred and three-piece Death Star is a symbol of everything he’s overcome and the unique opportunities he’s been provided.
“Wilson is very proud of the things he’s accomplished,” says his care manger Jasmine Prasad. “He doesn’t let this disease stop him from doing anything he wants to achieve.”
Wilson hasn’t seen the Star Wars movies in nine years, but because they were his favourite films when he was young, he can still remember visuals in detail.
“There’s his lightsaber,” he says, describing Darth Maul. “It’s red on one end, and red on the other end too…it’s evil.”
When he was six, Wilson was diagnosed with Batten disease. It’s a terminal illness that first robbed Wilson of his sight and has slowly confined him to a wheelchair.
Wilson’s family doesn’t have much – his father works at a noodle restaurant while his mom cares for him full-time – but they were able to give him a wide range of opportunities as he grew up thanks to provincial funding. Two years ago, when he was 18, that funding was about to run out.
“There was a lot of uncertainty,” says Prasad. “It was difficult for Wilson, we didn’t know what would happen, if he would have any workers be with him.”
It was during that time, when Prasad and Wilson’s family were trying to find a longer-term solution for his care, that the two of them were in Oakridge Mall. Wilson enjoyed playing with the Lego Sets, especially the Star Wars ones. And especially the Death Star set.
But with a price around $600, it was too much for Wilson’s family.
“I had been trying for months and months to get Wilson this Death Star before I stopped working for him,” said Prasad, hoping that it might be a nice goodbye present to Kevin before she stopped being his care manager.
It was then she saw Kevin Bieksa.
“I said excuse me, Mr. Bieksa, would you mind meeting Wilson?” said Prasad, remembering their chance encounter.
Bieksa began talking to Wilson about his upcoming 19th birthday and his favourite Lego sets. Wilson bragged that he just finished the Millennium Falcon.
“What about this thing here?” said Bieksa, pointing to the Death Star set. Bieksa took it off the wall and paid for it on the spot.
“You began crying,” says Wilson to Prasad.
“It was kind of surreal, because with Kevin Bieksa not even knowing how important this was for Wilson, somehow he knew and got it for him. It changed all of our lives.”
Bieksa took a picture with Wilson – “The picture is so blurry. You look at the picture, and it’s really blurry, but it was a really emotional day,” said Prasad -
and told him to send him a picture when he was done
Driving home, Prasad realized that what was going to be a goodbye gift was turning into something else.
“He said ‘see Jasmine, you can’t leave me now, you have to stay and help me build this thing. We have to build it together.'”
More motivated than ever, Prasad and Wilson’s family researched different ways to extend his funding. Eventually, they found Community Living BC’s Individualized Funding. After many anxious months, their application was approved, giving Wilson two years of additional funding.
During that time, Wilson has had some setbacks. But he’s also volunteered with the Vancouver Police Department, become a certified clown and take electric guitar lessons.
Not to mention finishing a certain Lego Set.
“Without Kevin Bieksa buying that Death Star, I’m not sure this all would have happened,” said Prasad.
“He had a pretty tough disease,” said Bieksa as he looked at the picture of Wilson and his Death Star.
“I just wanted to help him out a little bit. I just tried to help out around the holidays. It’s a pretty amazing accomplishment.”
“What an amazing man.”

Claims he decided to intervene and hand the woman's apparent boyfriend a handwritten note, telling him to look through her phone
Posted picture of the woman and the note online, and the photos have now gone viral
Lye received backlash over the move, with many criticizing him for potentially putting the woman at risk for physical abuse

^I would never do anything like that. You have absolutely no idea what the situation is. I try my best never to judge others. It's their business, not mine. Plus, it's kind of rude to read what's on other people's phones, laptop, or computer. I hate people who purposely go out of their way to see what's on the screen.
Isn't there a football game to watch? Must have been a boring game.

it's definitely a sticky situation and most people wouldn't get involved but personally I think he did the right thing by giving that poor guy a heads up. If the guy chooses to go any further with it or not that's up to the bf. He did it tastefully and discreetly its not like he called her out in front of him or made a scene.

Over heard this conversation tonight with a guy running past me by Whistler village to wave down a hotels shuttle bus. He was asking if the bus driver could take him, his kids and wife to the location the bus was headed to (some hotel). The guy was saying that the hotel destination is a closer walking distance than from Whistler village, this was at like 11pm and pretty cold tonight. The bus driver said that he couldn't take them to his hotel but that he would make a detour trip to drop them off right infont of their hotel.

Went on a Starbucks date tonight and there was a guy outside asking for change for a coffee... I looked at him and said "you want a coffee? Go inside I will buy you one" the guy seemed really surprised and said ok. I walked inside my date was standing there that I have never met before and bought us 3 drinks and he went on our merry way..
Talk about a perfect way to score points and I didn't even think about it when I offered and talk about a long date since this all happened at 6pm and I just got home :)

I was in Safeway paying for some milk and eggs and wanted to pay with my prepaid MasterCard, but forgot the amount remaining. I do, however, recall that I should have enough credits. So I swiped the card once, declined. I figured I try again, but nope, declined. Just when I was about to bring out my credit card, a man behind me told the cashier that he got my tab and handed over his debit card. I was shocked that he barely hesitated. Thanked him for the offer and told him that I do have a working credit card. Awesome feeling knowing that there are still people like that out there.

ppl need to stop doing this cus it might cause the person who took the parking slip to receive a parking ticket. i know some parking lots r starting to record down license plates so if on their 2nd patrol the plates dont match to the first record they'll issue that vehicle a ticket for not paying even tho the stall technically has been "paid for 24hrs" alrdy.

Wow. That's just a company being greedy as fuck. Meter Maids for the city might as well start doing this too then. I know there are times I don't have small change, and throw a toonie in the meter (typ. 40 minutes) and am only around for 10-15 minutes and the next guy gets the remainder.

not that hard, just really labor intensive
they print out a list of stalls that paid for 24hrs of parking at let say 1:00PM and see that stall number 100 has paid at 12:50PM and records down the license plate of the vehicle as 001 XXA, then lets say at 3:00PM they print out another list of paid stalls and sees stall 100 has paid at 12:50PM but this time the vehicle license plate is 069 FGT which means the first vehicle has paid and left the stall and a new vehicle has parked into the stall without paying
like i said really labor intensive, i suspect those lot attendants r paid commission based on how many tickets they can issue, thats y they work so hard on catching unpaid stalls

Man, I had a "god bless" moment last night.
Was at a McD's in some buttfuck nowhere town in Washington State. It was kind of busy at first, but the place became deserted in less than an hour. Only my car and a beat up van were left in the parking lot. It was cold and windy - really cold. Anyway, I noticed the van had its hood up. Being curious, I walk over to see what was up. The driver was standing there motionless with his hands in his pockets staring at the engine bay. When he saw me coming he pleaded for me to help him jump start his van. I told him no problem. Dude looked like some mormon or a quaker. I drive around to get closer to the side where the battery is. That's when I saw the wife.................. with a new born baby. The interior of the van was a mess - side door was open. Looked like a freaking manger from a nativity scene. After I finished and was about to leave the parking lot, I turn on the car's radio only to hear Boney M's, "Zion's Daughter."

Overheard my dad talking to someone on the phone a few nights ago...
What I made out was that there's a family (friend of a friend of a friend type), where the dad recently had some sort of sudden bad illness and is unable to move, let alone provide; So the mom is working multiple shifts at minimum wage to feed 3 kids and take care of the bedridden dad, etc.
Dad was saying how he'd like to give the family some money anonymously...
I had some money set aside as my cousins and I were going to hit up the casino tonight; now I'm here on RS and not at Starlight...but I'm sure the money went to a much better use.
I'm really in no position to preach, but please keep in mind that there are families out there in some pretty shitty situations.

Terminally Ill 9-Year-Old's Simple Request
He doesn’t want a trip to Disneyland, an iPad, or even another one of his beloved video games. For his 9th birthday, on Feb. 11, all Bubby Everson wants is mail, ideally cards with stickers enclosed. “He loves mail,” mom Brandi McNerney-Everson tells Q13 Fox News. “Even if it’s junk mail.”
Bubby’s doting parents are happy to accommodate, and hopeto rally others to send in mail too, because they’re not sure how many birthdays their son has left. The Graham, Washington boy is terminally ill with Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a disease he contracted via virus at birth that in rare instances, like his, can be fatal.
STORY: Baby With the ‘Worst Disease You Never Heard Of’
So the parents have set up a post office box – Attention: Bubby Everson: P.O. Box 1142, Graham, WA 98338 – for their son in the hopes that generous strangers will send mail, cards and stickers to lift their little one’s spirits on his big day.

Bubby Everson, Brandi McNerney-Everson and Thomas Everson at home (Photo: WGN).
And since the couple shared their goal on local TV, dad Thomas Everson tells Yahoo Parenting that the notes have been pouring in. “We’ve received a lot of support for this birthday wish and it’s been absolutely amazing,” he says. “I’m completely blown away. I feel truly blessed that random strangers from all over the world are wiling to take time to send him a card to express their willingness to help.”
The couple plans on surprising Bubby with a treasure hunt through their home and neighborhood during his birthday party Feb. 7. They’ll fill treasure chests along the way with all of the letters he receives. “Bubby has no idea,” says Thomas. “No clue.”
Mom and dad have had to scramble, though, to keep their operation covert. “We purchased a few small treasure boxes from a crafts store but now we don’t think it’s going to be enough,” says Bubby’s dad. “We’re going to have to keep the hunt going well after his birthday to be able to give him all of the cards he receives.” And the stickers? “He’s going to be getting so many stickers our house will be covered.”
The celebration will certainly cheer up what’s been a long and difficult struggle to keep Bubby healthy. “Knowing that we could lose him at any time, that’s hard,” says mom Brandi. But she insists that her son is one tough cookie. “I don’t think he’d be here if he wasn’t a fighter,” she adds. “He’s amazing.”
My roommate went out today and bought a postcard and some stickers for the kid and I will be mailing it out tomorrow. :)

Found an iPhone 6, and a wallet full of cards and money (one of those flip out wallet phone combos) on point grey road at the end of a goddamn 3 hour walk with my dog. Walked 10 blocks back the other way to deliver it to the guys front door. He was stoked, I was stoked. Not a big deal, but that walk was a LONG one.
I probably should have sold the phone on CL to an RS member, but elected to take a different route.
I was driving along Greystone Ave. in North Burnaby yesterday, when I see this elderly Chinese woman curled up on side of road. There were two other people there trying to help her out, but seemed to be struggling with her. I immediately stopped in the adjacent parking lot (IGA) and ran out to help. This lady was on her way to IGA to buy some Chinese newspaper. According to the two asian ladies trying to help her, a woman with two kids found her on the ground further up the road previously, but had to go home. She had fallen and was suffering from what seemed like heat stroke. She refused help and didn't want anyone to call police or ambulance. She was afraid of getting beaten up by family members for getting police or anyone else involved. Woman kept trying to get up and leave, but couldn't stand up straight. My son sat her down on a ledge and kept her from falling over. Other people came by, but none of them knew Cantonese. One lady knew Cantonese, but was very ill and didn't want to infect her. She ended up being very helpfull.
I was very proud of the way my son looked after the old woman. I just stayed back and watched him look after the old woman like she was his grandmother. We stayed until the RCMP and paramedics arrived. I hope the family members don't get too upset with her. We did let the RCMP officer know that there were signs of elderly abuse. It's always hard to witness stuff like this.
Addendum........ if any of you live with an elderly person, keep an eye on them and make sure they have ID with them at all times. The elderly tend to wander off on their own. The older they get, the more they revert to being like a child.

For the past 4-6 weeks I have periodically seen a blind man walking in the afternoon, with his white cane, usually westbound on E.22nd Ave. in Vancouver.
About two weeks ago, I'm on my way home going south on Rupert (uphill) and I see the man. This time he was crossing west at the crosswalk on E.15th. I was about the 6th-8th car back from the crosswalk and I couldn't believe what I witnessed. All the motorist in front of me were driving AROUND him as he slowly crossed the road. When I got to the intersection, he was mosty off to the side but still not completely on the sidewalk. I pulled over, got out of my car, and approached him. He was going towards the roadway again and not to the sidewalk. Long story short, I guided him to the sidewalk, had a quick conversation with him, wished him a good day and off I went.
All those people that drove around him while he was still on the road.......unbelieveable I tell you.

I went shopping at the No Frills on Hastings near Clarke Drive this morning. I shop there often now as it is my weekly go to for grocery shopping. Looks like it is the VFD's favourite, as well. See them there all the time. Anyway, there's this scruffy looking guy who looks like a homeless bum in the parking lot cleaning up. Not sure if he's full time or not, but he's always working hard. Today, I decided to give him a fin. As I handed it to him, I told him that he's a hard worker and to keep it up. It put a big smile on his face. I will phone the owner/manager at No Frills later today to thank them for giving back to the community. It's good to see people get a second chance.

Friend of mine posted a couple on her FB this weekend:
Today I witnessed a selfless act of kindness towards another person who was down on life luck at this moment in time.
My friend and I were having a conversation in a parking lot and a man named Jeff wandered over and asked for a shirt or jacket as he was homeless and freezing cold. We had none that we knew of. My friend searches the trunk of the car, finds a jacket and takes it out and gives it to the guy.
The look on the mans face was one of amazement and gratitude. My friend felt good for helping someone in need and I teared up at the entire thing.
It was so touching to witness heart emoticon
So I witnessed another selfless act today.
My stepdad helped a young man with a flat tire outside his house today. The man said he would have been stuck for hours messing around with his tire. Warner thought nothing of it and carried on in his day.
Well. The young man came back bearing a gift card for Warners help. Which made Warner tear up and a hug ensued.
Such a nice thing to do for another person. On both parties.

Not so much a random act of kindness but it restored some faith in humanity right after some asshat killed some of that faith off. Spoilered cause it's still a bit of a sad story.
This happened a few weeks back, but I was grabbing some late night Wendy's and as I was leaving I see a smallish lump in the middle of the lot. I figured it was a raccoon but as I was driving away I realized it was a cat. I turned around and drove back as this white sedan decides to not drive around it but just ignore it completely, somehow none of the tires hit it but still, kind of a dick move. I walked up to the poor thing and it was definitely dead, from the looks of things it should've died nearly instantly so at least it didn't suffer. As I'm trying to sort out what to do with this poor thing since the SPCA is closed and there isn't really any place to bury it nearby a nice older lady comes up with some gloves and a garbage bag she got from the people at Arbies (props to them) and a random girl who was eating at Wendy's (who apparently saw the cat get hit, poor girl) offers to help get the poor cat out of the road. I managed to scoop it up with my little recovery shovel and a Gatorade bottle and get it in the bag the girl held open while she tried not to freak out too much. None of us had any clue what to do for the poor thing (no collar/tags) so we put it in the dumpster. I still feel bad for having to do that but I couldn't think of anything better and at least it wasn't just sitting in the lot getting run over and mangled :( I'm glad those women decided to help out so I didn't feel like a complete nutcase for feeling bad for a random cat.

I was about 10 feet behind someone and saw some small papers fall to the ground. At first I thought he was littering (but I wasn't 100% sure they came from him), but noticed the papers were uniform in size and brown... So I picked up 4-5 100 dollar bills and caught up to the guy. I wasn't sure how to ask if it was his so I asked "are you carrying a lot of cash"? He looked surprised, but based on his reaction of immediately reaching into his loose pant pockets, I guess I returned it to the right person.
Could've been a weird question if I was dressed like a bum, or if it was late at night on a sketchy street... But I was dressed for work and it was 2pm at UBC.
I'll admit that for a moment, I thought about keeping the cash since nobody else saw what happened. But man it feels good doing the right thing. :fuckyea:

Not so much a random act of kindness, just a story to make you smile.
I was heading home from the dog park with my pup. We passed by the cutest kids selling lemonade on the corner old school style. Cardboard sign, adorable backward letters and a big jug of lemonade. They were asking $0.50 a cup, I handed them a $5 bill and told them to keep up the good work. As I'm walking back to my truck I hear "MOM! THIS NICE MAN GAVE US A 5 DOLLAR BILL!!!"
That made my day, I haven't seen kids selling lemonade in the neighbourhood for at least 10+ years now.
If you're in the area or passing through, they are on 5th and Slocan in East Vancouver.
So here's one.
This past year has been pretty rough for me, and I haven't been in the best place mentally. So to cheer myself up, I adopted a kitten a few months ago. (I'm a huge animal lover... apparently borderline crazy cat guy.) And to get to the point, I fucking love this cat. She sleeps in my bed every night, follows me around the house all the time, cuddles with me when I'm not feeling too great, and gets super excited whenever I get home from work. Admittedly, I always look forward to seeing her when I get home.
A couple nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night to get some water, and noticed she wasn't there. I looked around the house, but I already knew something was wrong. (Usually as soon as she hears me walking, she'll start following me around.) So I checked the doors and windows, and noticed one of the mosquito screens on one of our windows was pushed out, and that's where she must've jumped out. (It was about 2am at this time.) I went outside with a bag of treats (she usually comes running at the sound of me shaking the bag) to go look for her. I walked around for 2 hours and couldn't find or hear her (she has a bell around her neck), so I went home and crashed for a few hours, and in the morning I went out to look for her again with no luck. The day went by, night came, looked again, nothing. I started to lose hope. (She's only about 5 months old, so she's not ready to be an outdoor cat just yet.)
Then last night at about 10pm, I get a call from a lady who asked if I lost a cat. (I have a name tag on her collar with my phone number on it). I was so fucking excited and relieved that my eyes welled up a bit. She said that they found her in their yard, and that she's really freaked out and shivering. I went to pick her up immediately (she was about 10 blocks away from my house), and repeatedly thanked her and her husband. I offered them some sort of reward, and they declined. I saw that they have a dog, and I told them that I own a doggy daycare and they can have as many free stays as they want, and they declined again. I told them that it'd be my pleasure to give them some sort of reward, and the husband finally says, "well, I just finished building that planter box. We could use a new plant in there."
So today I went over to Canadian Tire and picked up a plant, and wrote them a thank you card with a $100 bill tucked inside.
To any pet owners out there -- be sure to put your phone number on your pet's collar tag!
Here she is, all tuckered out and happy to be home.

Took my dirtbike out for the first time yesterday and just puttered up and down two trails getting a feel for it when I came across a rocky ridge with a small cooler on top of it. Went to take a look and see if the trail continued and found a pile of garbage some idiot dumped up there. Posted it to Facebook and instantly had a good buddy of mine offering to help me haul it out of there with his truck so he picked up my girlfriend and I and off we went. He found an old Fortis bill in the first bag we checked so I sent the pics and info off to a Conservation officer and the local RCMP.
Spoilered cause the pics are large.
What I thought was just a small cooler I could hook to my bike.

I'm actually amazed that someone got all that stuff up there, as the Nissan was fully loaded by the time we finished but almost too big to properly back up there.
Of course to cancel that out some idiots had to go and break into my Jeep last night, make a mess and steal my ashtray full of coins and some relays, a few receipts and a peanut M&M. I'm mainly mad about the ashtray as now I don't have anywhere to put coins.

;8655512']Not so much a random act of kindness, just a story to make you smile.

A quick kindness/common courtesy story from a few days ago:
I was filling up at a station, eyefucking a new mercedes S class - driven by an older gentlemen, he filled up and slowly started driving to the touchless carwash bay at the gas station. I started to look away but something caught the corner of my eye as he was punching in the code - his sunroof was cracked open!
I bolted across the gas station yelling at him, and at first he looked at me like i was insane lol - then i told him his sunroof was open and he had the biggest look of surprise. Thanked me profusely.
Just a funny story of something that could have gone very poorly for someone...lol.
'Tis the season again! Be nice everyone :)

A Good Samaritan and myself rescued an injured blue heron with a broken wing and brought him down to the animal hospital on W4th. While we were getting a blanket and box to corral him into, there were at least a half dozen crows circling above waiting to attack him.
Unfortunately, when I called to do a follow up later that night, they said the the blue herons wing was too badly broken and that they had to euthanize him.

Not really a random act but thought I'd share.
Couple of weeks ago while I was driving down Canada Way just past Sperling going towards Burnaby City Hall on my way to in law's place for dinner, saw the aftermath of a single vehicle accident on the opposite side. The car hit a pole and wedged itself against a wall and was just starting to smoke when I saw it, so it must have happened not too long ago.
The truck in front of me and I pulled around, he called 911 while I checked on the people inside the car. Air bags deployed and the front end is pretty messed up. The passenger was not hurt but couldn't get out because the car was wedged in, the driver was a little out of it and sustained an injury to his leg. Asked for the driver's name while I checked for ABC's and told him not to move when he couldn't really respond to any of my questions.
Waited till the fire trucks got there and left after the fireman told me I can go since I didn't see the actual event.

Last week a customer left a TD Bank envelope on the booth seat. Waitress passed it to me, I opened it to find 13 crisp $100 notes inside.
No name or contact so I locked it away. He came back a day later and was super frantic and nervous, he was like *ahem* Did... you guys ... umm ... find a small envelope on Saturday night?
I said "Hmmm ... Maybe, there are many things in the lost & found, tell me exactly what is inside the envelope"
He hesitated then cleared his throat like 5 times "ummm there's $1300 in cash, all hundreds"
I pretended to be shocked and was like "oh REALLY?... well then .... does it have a name on it?"
*awkward silence for 10 seconds*
... "yeah I have it, be careful with so much money in your pocket bro" and handed it back to him, he had the most grateful look on his face. All he said was "I will definitely come back here more often!"

A single mom of 2 was about to spend Christmas alone with her 3yr old son, while her daughter would be spending it with the dad. The mom doesn't want to spend Christmas alone with her son so she posted on Craigslist asking if anyone would be willing to share their festivities with them.
Within a few days, she received a few hundred responses including some people from the Netherlands. Some people even offered to pay for her and her son's flight.

It was a little scary b/c when we first approached him, he stood up scared and he was a lot bigger than we thought. Thankfully, after we covered him a a large cloth, I think he calmed down but I'm not sure. All I know was that he didn't move and try to poke us with his beak. I knew that it was bad b/c when he stood up, his wing was just dangling. I still kind of hoped that he could be saved.
The doctors told me that blue heron's don't do well in captivity regardless.

Yesterday, I was at Safeway late in the evening and the person in front of me was buying a few cans of generic cola, 1 500ml carton of chocolate milk, and a long john donut. As the lady was ringing in the items, he was watching the total closely and told her to take out the donut and a can of cola because he didn't have enough money (only $3). As he was gathering his stuff, I told the lady to just add his donut to my bill. He was thankful.
In hindsight, I should've just paid for his entire grocery bill. :(

yea I totally agree that this idea works as long as your family and friends are supportive.
I mean I didn't spend any "extra" money, i just took the money that I would've spent buying my friends christmas cards, chocolates, gift cards, movie tickets and the few "bigger gifts". and used it towards this great cause.
I've asked my friends to not get me anything for christmas and to donate that money to a charity of their choice. Cause frankly i'm fortunate to be in a position where if there is anything I want, I can just get it myself.
So honestly, if you have a tradition of christmas gifting, just entertain the idea of giving that money to charity instead. Majority of your friends will understand, support and praise you for the decision, the few that gets mad because they didn't get a christmas present....while I guess maybe its time to click that "unfriend" button on FB.

May I suggest the token program from Save on Meats? They were on the Jeff O'Neil show this week and it sounds pretty amazing. They've been doing a token program for sandwiches for a few years now, but this year added tokens for clothing. Iirc it's $2.25/token for sandwiches and $5/token for a jacket/clothing items.
Link is below if you're interested in looking at it further. Also you can dictate where the tokens are sent, or leave it up to them to distribute them for you. You can also purchase the tokens without leaving your computer area, they have a paypal set up or you can go into the diner/butcher and purchase them there.

I've heard of this program as well, but in all honesty, I try to help as much as I can in my small(ish) community. I donate to our local 'Food Bank' and shelter called Helping Hands annually (often a few times per year). It may not be much, but with 4 mouths to feed, we give what we can, including all of our good used clothing.
I'm just liking the idea of helping others in need in lieu of the gifts. I guess lead by example, and next year for Xmas (my wife and kids already bought me something this year), I am going to ask that they do this for me instead, including going down and volunteering.
Thanks for the idea, skiipi. Merry Xmas.

Well skiipi, I was telling my children about what you have done and that next year I wanted my sons to do something similar. My eldest said, "Why wait? I have money in my piggy bank." I told them I would match whatever they decided to donate, so off they ran, shook those banks and decided that they would give $10 each (that was all that was in my youngest son's, he keeps giving money away as it means nothing to him now).
I had spoken to Helping Hands (http://squamishhelpinghands.ca/) yesterday about what items they may need and am trying to facilitate some free labour to rebuild their kitchen, but they did say that they needed warm clothes for men, as the local Women's Shelter takes care of the women and children quite well. With that in mind, we headed out to find a shop in town.
My eldest thought that Mark's Work Warehouse would have the best warm stuff, and a 'sweater like his', so in we go, and the manager happened to be near the front and asked if she could help find something? I explained what we were doing and she paused, looked at my little guys, and then she had a little welling in the eyes, which made me get a little teary as well. She said she could certainly help us out and she did.
I bumped in a bit more, but Mark's gave us 4 pairs of those same Heat socks skiipi pictured, 4 scarves, a pair of gloves, and a nice thick $70 sweater/hoodie (just like my sons) for $60. On the way to Helping Hands, we stopped at my wife's work and they donated 4 toques to their box and mom was quite proud of her little men; as am I. Proof that doing good by people (and even others seeing or hearing about the deeds, like this thread) is contagious.

This is so awesome to hear!
Glad Mark's was able to give you a bit of a deal :)
So inspiring to see the young generation get involved in the act of giving!

Anyone have any experience donating to the Children's hospital?
Do they spam you with mail/emails throughout the year even if you uncheck that box?
My office has sent them donations the last few years and I don't think we've gotten much mail/email other than the usual thanks and such.

Funny that you should say that because I just donated my full freebie drawer (over 45 shampoo and conditioner sets and mouth wash) to the eastside women's centre. My gf helped donate her time to put the baskets together and I gave her the good right away.

Today I was out and about picking up a few things and I saw an older guy standing by Walmart with a sign saying he's hungry and willing to work. I never give anyone cash but I'll buy anybody food so I walked up to him and asked what he likes to eat, he said just a cheeseburger. I asked if he wanted anything else with it and he said a coffee, double triple. So I strolled over to McDs and got him a double cheeseburger and an XL DT, then I saw they had gift cards so I loaded one up with $25 and brought it all over to him. I told him to keep warm and he wished me a merry christmas and we went our separate ways.

I was stopped at a intersection and noticed a cell phone laying on the street. I drove around the block and picked up the Iphone with wallet case. I quickly looked at the identification and remembered that I saw this guy crossing the intersection 5 minutes ago. I drove around the neighborhood and found the guy walking. I pulled over and flagged the guy down then presented him with his cell phone and said he dropped it when he was walking along the street. He said he was dealing with a house fire and was grateful for what i did. We shook hands and parted ways.
Feels good to do this so close to Christmas, since dealing with losing a phone and wallet is the last thing he needs going into the holidays.

Thread been dead lately............
Anyway, at around 10 pm yesterday, I stopped by the Starbucks on Boundary and Canada Way to redeem some coupons. I was approached by this woman who asked if I had jumper cables. I said no at first, but then remembered I had my portable charger thing I bought a few months back from KMS Tools. I told her I have this dinky little thing that may or may not work, as I've never had to use it. I get to her vehicle and it's a Honda Pilot. Husband was in car with little kid in child seat. They were pretty desperate and were in a hurry. I hooked up the thing and bam! the engine started immediately. They were so happy and I was just as happy to see this thing actually work.
I should have actually posted this on some tool thread, but wanted to bump this thread instead. I'll post more about the jump starter somewhere else. Keep posting good stories in this thread, RS.

Here's a small act....
I was standing outside Sushi California the other night waiting for a table. A young couple park their car and take their baby into the restaurant. After a couple minutes I came to the realization that he had left their headlights on after parking. I informed them about it and he was thankful for it. Although I found out he was going back outside later anyways  lol

It was the second nice day of spring so I was doing all kinds of chores around the yard. I live in a quiet neighbourhood and usually say hello to anyone that passes. Up the road was coming a father and son on bikes, the little one on a small bike with training wheels that was much too small for him and therefore pedaling so slow the dad was having a hard time balancing at the snail's pace. I asked the father to wheel over - said I have a larger bike for his son and perhaps that would get them both moving faster and easier on the little guy's knees. He asked how much? I told him nothing - all I ask is that you pass it on to another little one that needs it when he is done - keep the karma going. The bike was the same brand as what he had and I even quickly found the training wheels for him. The father was very grateful they both left with a Happy Easter and big smiles.

My buddy and I went for Cha Time in Richmond after lunch. Came out to chill by the car while my buddy had a smoke. We see a mom and daughter running around the parking lot looking for someone. They asked us if we saw the accident that occurred a minute ago with a white vehicle that drove off. We told them that we didn't see anything, but I told her I can check my dash camera.
Lexus starts backing out and the white vehicle starts to back out right after. The Lexus started honking the white vehicle to stop backing out but the white vehicle has already hit the Lexus.
Both vehicles go back into their spots. The white vehicle backs out again and leaves while the daughter is catching the license plate? The daughter recited the wrong plate number. Good thing my dash camera got a glimpse of the plate number.
Mom and daughter see the scratches and try to go after the car.
Sent the video to the mother.

here a nice heart warm story for u rs dog lover, u know ppl likes westopher
so i get hungry sometimes at night when i sleep and most of the i would sleep it off as i would be super sleepy
but sometimes its the opposite, when i cant sleep i tend to eat
so few nights ago i walked down to my local family mart (convince store) to get a lunch box and after eating i was still hungry and was debating if i should get more food
problem is im scared i wouldnt be able to finish it as i didnt want to waste food, so i decided to walk back home
on my way back home i saw a dog and it alone, i was the only human standing in alley (so im guessing its a street dog)
the dog came towards me so i waved my hand and got it to sit down, ATM i thought this was a sign that i should continue to eat
so i ran back to family mart and bought a ham rice roll with a bottle of water, as well as a empty plastic bowl (they used them for cart noodles)
so i ran back out hoping the dog was still there............and what did u know, the dog was still there
so i split my rice roll up only taking 20% and i let the dog have the rest of the roll, including the whole ham
the dog looked curious and start to the lick the rice roll, then he started eating it
as he was eating i started talking about all my unhappy problems, the dog was a good listener and after i pour some water in to the bowl for dog
at this moment i fell very happy as i had someone to listen to my problem and i was scared or afraid to speak out
then i said thanks and good bye
now when ever i can't sleep, i would walk down to see if i could share my mid-snack with the dog again

Where are you located?
Personally, I would have taken the dog in.
*Edit: I just reread what I wrote and it comes off condescending. This was not my intention. What I meant to write was that I would have taken responsibility for said animal as I'm in a position where I can do this. I wholeheartedly believe that sometimes animals choose you to be their partners in crime and this may have been one of these moments.

Stopped by Home Depot to exchange some blinds.
Was at the Customer Service/Returns counter and I was the only customer there.
The Home Depot employee did the exchange and everything went smoothly.
Behind me, 2 seniors were walking slowly, one with a cane (and the other was supporting the other senior with the cane).
It was obvious that walking was at least somewhat difficult for the senior with the cane.
They asked another home depot employee where to find swiffer wetjets.
The home depot employee told them to go to aisle 51.
The pair then started to walk slowly to that aisle.
I knew that specific home depot well enough to know that aisle 51 is one long-ass walk, so I politely asked the pair if I could help them go to that aisle and get what they needed.
They said yes, described what they needed, and wanted 2 of then, and off I went, with my fast-walk walk.
I came back with the $25 x 2 Swiffer wetjets.
I waited for them and walked with them to the cashier.
After looking at the swiffer wetjets, the senior with the cane said she needed a "dry" mop swiffer.
I asked them to stay near the cashier while I went back to aisle 51.
I then proceeded to go back to aisle 51 and came back with 2 different options, one being $11 and one being $18.
Bingo, they said those 2 optiosn were correct, and they decided to choose one or the other.
At this time, I told them to take their time to choose, and that I had to go, and we went our merry ways.
They were very gracious.

Took the kids swimming today, opened a locker a found a wallet. On my way to the front counter to hand it in to lost and found, figured I should take a peek inside to see if there a decent amount of cash I shouldn't trust the youngsters working the counter with.. immediately saw some American funds then a decent amount of Canadian money folded in half. Didn't count it but lifted it up a little and saw two $100 bills right away.. could've been more of them in there but didn't want the guy to catch me counting his cash lol. There was at least $300-$400 in there I suspect, maybe more.
Decided not to hand it in but checked out the license and thought I would look him up and return it in person if he didn't hurry back. Hung out in the lobby for a 10 mins or so and saw him return. Gave him his wallet back, he was definitely appreciative but must have had kids in the car because it was a quick "thanks a lot, man!" as he hurried back out to the parking lot.

this is china & most ppl would have just took the phone, but i ran out to see if i can still catch the girls............but i couldnt
i told the store owner to keep it for now (i trust her), the girl looked like someone that makes an average living & that she still paying off her phone (u can lease phones in china and pay every month, then the phone is yours permanently)
it would really suck balls if she lost her phone and still had to continue doing monthly payments for it
also found a iphone 4s just last week, the phone was cracked & the lcd was sort of messed up, so i gave to the CS at the mall & they me the "no one would want that" look

Reminds me of a scam where some people would leave their phones in front of an atm and later if you tried to return it, they would accuse you of stealing it and extorting money for the phones return. Using the atm camera as evidence, calling the cops, and then ask if you want to just settle. (this is in asia of course). The case would obviously not go through but the stress of the process would make some settle by paying. Pretty fucked up.

Saw another guy with his hat out asking politely for change outside Save On this evening, he had a really soft voice and there weren't many people around so I figured he wouldn't be getting much and might be going hungry. I asked him if he was hungry and was trying to get something to eat, he said yes so I told him I'd be right back with a sandwich. I grabbed one of the premade sub style sandwiches and a chocolate bar and brought them out to him, he was really thankful and told me he'd be bringing it to his girlfriend that hurt her foot and is stuck staying in their camp (wherever that is). In hindsight I should've gone and grabbed him another sandwich but I derped at the time.

so at this point someone out of no where started accusing my foreign friend for trying to get the homeless guy sick, but at this point the homeless guy was fine & turns out he just drank water too fast

that's just china tho,we all seen that small kid get run over and no one gave a fuck about it and kept walking...Damn china.
Not many stories as of late in this thread, but I had a "nice" moment this morning. I don't see the garbage truck in my alley too often, but today I saw them coming around the corner. I ran into the house and grabbed a tin of PC chocolate coated cookies that I have in case of emergency (unexpected guests). When I gave it to the dude at the back of the truck, he was so appreciative. Him and his buddy were really happy about it. It made their day and their reaction to it made my day.
That's one shitty job. I remember seeing the guy get vacuum dust all over himself because one of my dumbass neighbours didn't bag it at all and just dumped it into the bin.
I remember seeing the neighbour across the alley giving the guys a bottle of his home made wine during last run before christmas.

Shitty smelling job maybe. No more heavy lifting with automation. Pensions, benefits a salary well above average. No education required. In reality it's a bit of a jackpot of a position if you can handle the smell.

they also make about $30hr for tossing out trash.
Maybe a simple, "bump," to this thread would have been more beneficial.
Anyway, I don't think how many benefits or how much someone gets paid for whatever has much to do with it. It was something unexpected and "random". A doctor who looked after one of my kids when they were very ill got a bottle of sake from me. That bottle meant something to this guy, who probably makes a shitload of money and can afford a boatload of sake. It was a simple, "thanks" from me.
He didn't expect it and like I said, it meant a lot to him. I could tell from the smile he had on his face.
Oh, another one............ it happened to me two days ago. I went back to where I used to work before retiring. Dude who I didn't know that well came up to me and said, "You know, you're one of the good ones. There aren't many of you good guys left...... just wanted you to know that."
You know how much just hearing that meant to me? I can't remember what I said back to him, but his "nice gesture" I will treasure. He wasn't the boss or the person who signed the paycheques. Just the groundskeeper, who knew more about the place than anybody else.
BTW, dude gets paid peanuts, but he absolutely loves his job and from what I hear, everybody loves him.

I think 50% of the time, I get the "Welcome Home" treatment.

On Wednesday, when I crossed back into Canada, border guard said, "Welcome Home." Only heard this a few times in all the times I've crossed back from the US.

I had this twice in my life... once at the border and once at YVR... both times I was caught off guard.... all I could muster up was a smile ..... kept thinking about the word "home" and what it really meant after the YVR time... I was coming "home" from a funeral...

I was trying very hard not to laugh as my car was full of camping gear and didn't wanna spend the next 2 hours having it searched.
Never had a "welcome home" always just "where do you live" lol

Last week I was at the New West Quay for lunch(eating some damn tasty bbq) and the GF asked me to help a older man that dropped something on the ground that has been trying to grab it for 5mins (I couldn't see because my back was to him) so I got up to check it out and he was a older handicapped man in a motorized wheelchair trying to make the table level so he could put his tea on it. I grabbed a napkin got on my knees and made it nice and level. He couldn't speak very well but said thank you and the look in his eyes showed so much appreciation it made my day.
It made me sick because tons of people were around and they were just watching him not willing to offer a hand at all

Had to get a rock chip in my window fixed and stopped by a local glass repair shop near my place. A guy was cleaning his van infront of the shop and he asked if I needed any help. Told him the situation and he said he would take a look. Long story short, he helped fix my window in the blazing sun and when he finished I asked how much I owed him for the work? and he looked at me and said, "Don't worry about it. :) "
I insisted, but he told me it was fine. He looks like the type that would be on here, so thank you again if you are! #PayItForward

I was at Canadian tire yesterday getting some water jug's filled and on the way to the store I see an older women (grandmother type) with a massive Christmas tree box in her back seat trying to get it out to return it. I of course turned around because I walked by first and asked her if she needed which and of course she couldn't stop thanking me. She bought it for her son and he didn't need it and she has no idea how she was going to get it into the store. She said Merry Christmas and the smile and thankfulness on her face made my day!!

For those who get stuff from Sample Source.. I put those kellogg bars , tylenol etc in freezer zip lock bags and keep them in my car along with those bottled waters Air Canada gives away.. I tend to give anyone who are homeless 1 bag whenever I can.

I usually keep a pack in my backpack when I on the Drive.. especially now the shelter is open at First and Commercial.
Also for those who go on the Drive and shop. If you go to SuperValu and buy things, put the receipt in the plastic boxes at the end of the cashier checkout. With each receipt, Supervalu donates a matching amount to some of the neigbhourhood mom and kids program. I guess all SuperValus do that.

Had a great day with my sons today by having them being involved in helping strangers.
* we drove all over town through 6" snow and gave poinsettias to widows. Both my boys and these women loved it.
* while getting a few hot chocolates and a coffee, we paid for the order of the truck behind us. Have no clue who they were but got a wave.
* my sons once again took money they have saved all year by selling their old bikes and toys and bought warm and dry clothing for the homeless and needy here in our small town through Helping Hands Squamish. I match their savings and that equated to over $300. I am proud of those little guys. A big shout-out to Mark's Work Wear World here in town as they stepped up and threw in many more items to help the cause.

Nice!
Maybe is just me but it feels the skytrain is fill with rude people for the past few months? Not counting the people that would block your way out or just standing by the door even through there are lot's of room in the center. I been noticing on the way to work there is this lady who when you ask nicely for her to move she would not. I sat beside her a few times (me inside and she outside) And everytime she made you say Can you please excuse me? before she lets you me. Now the bus I take is like at 6:40am so most people who are on it is like half asleep and she made you say it so loud that half of the people on bus would wake up. If you don't say it loud enough she would keep saying "I can't hear you, you need to speak louder." Clearly she could hear you but she loves to wake everyone up.
One time I got so fed up with her BS. I scream at the top of my lungs : CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE YOUR STUPID ASS SO I CAN GET OFF! I AM SCREAMING RIGHT IN YOUR FACE BECAUSE EVERY FUCKING TIME YOU MADE SURE TO WAKE HALF OF THE PEOPLE ON THE BUS WAKES UP FOR YOU TO MOVE, ASSHOLE. Oh the look on her face. From that day on she dare not sit next to me again.
Also I notice more and more people are not giving up their seats for the others (disable, elderly). If I see ppl needs it I would give up seat (assuming I didn't fall asleep). But I see people these days just pretending they didn't see anyone needing a seat and on purpose stare at their phone.

Helped my neighbor, who is probably 70+, shovel the snow on his sidewalk and front steps. He was quite appreciative. Been his neighbour for quite a while but this is the first time I did it.
People who moved out of their parents house should go back and help their parents shovel their houses too.

Almost always gets me teary eyed when I ask a kid what they want for Christmas and they tell me 'to make poor kids and their moms and dads happy'. I ask them why not a <insert toy here> and they tell me that love is the only gift we can give without going broke.
^ Ok, that was my favourite response but I've heard many other enlightening responses. There is hope for future generations.

Coming home from the gym last week during one of the really snowy nights. Noticed 2 people walking in the middle of the road dragging their luggage behind them. My guess is that they were walking in the middle of the road because that was the only place where the snow was compact enough for them to walk.
I pulled over and offered them both a ride. They looked relieved, turns out both of them were walking to the skytrain (about a 30 min walk from where I picked them up). Had a fun chat while I drove them to the nearest sky train. I wished them a safe trip and went on my way!

Went to watch fly over Canada with gf this weekend. The two ladies in front of us went to the wrong line up (basically they bought the regular ticket and they line up at the express line). I was behind them the whole time. When the person told them they have to line up at the regular line up because they were at the wrong line up, the two ladies got piss and started making stuff up saying the staff told them to line up there. Not true they didn't ask anyone.
The staff call the supervisor and I told the supervisor that the two ladies never ever ask or spoke to the staff at all and they just assuming this is the line up for regular becasue they didn't want to wait in the long line up. The two ladies good so angry and just left. Sorry ladies your own fault.

Was at Oakridge a few nights ago and there was a lady with her hood propped open looking completely lost, in the dark.
Turns out she had a CEL on, and her husband told her to buy oil and fill it - apparently he knew about it lol.
Anyway she had no idea what she was doing and had no flashlight, she had the caps open for the crankcase, brake booster, and windshield fluid lol. So I pulled out my flashlight out and helped her. Crankcase was nearly empty lol.

I donated five bucks to this children's charity in front of the Canadian Tire entrance at Grandview Highway location on Sunday. -was returning an item to the store for a refund.
-asked the staff at the charity stand what the donations were for. The funds are assisting children in low income families.
When I was satisfied that this charity was not a scam, or a scheme from Scamthony Epizona's countrymen/countrywomen, I put five bucks into the donation box. LUL

Doing something kind would be like offering to pay the difference so there's no shouting, or something.
I donno, acts of kindness are supposed to make everyone leave happy. As much as they deserved it, the two cunts left angry because of OP stepping up.

On Monday my mom went to the Bay, bought a Christmas gift for my sister, paid, put the receipt in the bag, and left the bag on the counter and came home
Anyway she was rather upset not only at potentially losing money but because she's felt this is a direct result of her starting to get older.
So I asked her for as much details about what she bought, total price, time, etc., and went down to the Bay last night. Asked around and they checked upstairs office and lost/found, but they didn't have anything.
So I found the thing mom had originally bought, bought it again, and lied to my mom that they had kept it and returned it to me. I kept the receipt with me and made up some bs about them having lost the receipt and whatever haha.
I realize this is my mom and not some stranger, but she was super happy and relieved. I could tell she was bothered by making the mistake in the first place, but having it "resolved" softened the blow I guess, I donno. She really was quite happy.
Be nice to your parents, especially if they're getting older :)
