Something made in North America so you can save on the Duty tax.

Not to mention, most come standard with SatNavs.. and there seems to be more S4 Avants with a 6 spd manual to choose from..

I'm leaning towards a regular S-Line 2.0T wagon now, only because it'll cost way less (servicing + gas).. I drove a whooping 50,000kms in the last 13 months

yeah. the s4 isn't exactly stingy on fuel :(

How come S4's are so cheap? And are they made in NA? Save on the ridiculous 8.1% tax..

However the new 2010 S4 looks beastly!

^Supply and Demand.. Nah, the S4 is built in Europe, so you'll still have to pay the duty

The new S4 is nice, but you can't beat the growl of a 4.2 V8 FSI engine with a MTM exhaust system.

If you're willing to spend 60K OTD on a new S4, you can import a RS4 from the states

I'm almost tempted to do this but I'd have to sell my B5 S4.

thought you can't really get Mercs and BMWs to Canada due to you HAVE to let the dealership to do things that will cost a lot?

dunno. when i was looking for an e46 m3 back when the dollar was really strong, it was like 70% of those advertised locally were from the US.

Can't you import almost any vehicle from the US to Canada? used... don't think so if they're new.

know some guy who wanted to buy an Audi A5 or Aston Martin down in Seattle, new... and they couldn't be brought up.

You can not import brand new Honda's into canada, unless the car is registered in the US for a certain period of time(2 months I think). The salesman at Bellevue Honda told me Honda Canada was losing too much money because people were buying them in the states. Not sure about other brands.

i thought honda was notorious for not issuing the paperwork required to show that all recalls have been done? without it it cannot cross the border?

you don't even need a recall letter for Hondas, RIV can just look it up online themselves

There is a distinction:

A US "official" dealer is not allowed by US Corporate headquarters to sell a new car to a Canadian.

US Gov / Cdn Gov honestly don't care as long as you pay the taxes.

Nearly all of it is car manufacturers trying to protect their Canadian franchise owners.

OK, i guess you can't import Hondas. Any other brands you cannot import?

You can import Hondas, you just can't buy them new from Honda dealers as a Canadian.

You want a new Honda from US? Get your relatives in the US to buy you one, then transfer it to your name.

OK, i guess you can't import Hondas. Any other brands you cannot import?

Looking at the sticky at the top of the Vancouver Import Chat Forum will tell you.

Here's the link if you can't see it.

Also, dont' forget about warranty (http://www.apa.ca/template.asp?DocID=253) if you're buying something new (or relatively new). Some manufacturers won't honour a US warranty in Canada.
