It's gone, they pulled out of Vancouver.
When we went to pick up our Liquor Order, noticed that apparently there is a huge load of liquor that Mortons ordered through the Liquor Store just sitting in the back warehouse that was waiting for pickup from them but they folded so it's just sitting there.
I guess I finally have a reason to try Gotham now that Morton is gone :\

Cannery is closing due to a situation beyond their ability to stay in business.

I don't see how Gothams is > than Morton's.
Seriously. Maybe if you find that atmosphere is more important than the food, then sure. Steak-wise, Morton's hands down.

shit, i haven't even gone yet. I went to Morton's once in HK before they opened in vancouver, and i would say, even the one in HK has better steaks than gothams.

I was just there on Monday, and overheard a server say that the pricetag on a new location was simply too high ($2 million, I believe?). I assume they were looking for waterfront property...

Wow, interesting... guess it wasn't a bad thing that I went for my first - and possibly last - time a couple months ago... even though it did cost an arm and a leg for the porterhouse.

Vancouverites r too cheap
Vancouverites aren't cheap, Mortons didn't meet expectations since day1....bad location, atmosphere is OK, but Hy's and Gotham are better experiences than Mortons.

Hy's and Mortons are traditional steak houses... Gotham is a trendy place... Never had a chance to eat at the Morton's here but have in other cities... also they had a great happy hour... Free sliders with your drinks.. Sad to see an institution like that close in Vancouver... It's because of places like Earls, Cactus, Joeys, The Keg etc that kills all the good places...Catering to wannabe ballers... So many good places in this city that are in the same price range and far superior to these chains...
Hopefully we will get a few more restaurants like Market, DB Bistro etc... and creative places like Faux Bourgeois, Pied-a-terre, Boneta etc...
Also a new chef just took over at So.cial@Le Magasin in Gastown... AMAZING to say the least...

Granted you tried the prime rib should be a good indicator. The prime Rib is such a good meat that even if you fuck it up a bit it should still taste good and given it didn't thats bad news in my books.
