: Local clubs for "ambient" music?

I dunno, I'm mainly a metalhead, but I'll listen to just about anything...

A long-lost family member is coming in for a visit the week before Halloween, and I'd love to take her to a show (something in a club - ie. CHEAP, compared to a full-blown concert). She's into ambient stuff; to use her words, "I do love ambience! Andy Mckee, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, Plastic,
infected mushrom. mmmmmmm"

Now, I dig ambient too, but I have NO idea what kind of scene there is in town, if any, or where one would look for any such live performances. Any suggestions from the diverse RS braintrust??

Heh, no worries.

Interesting, I was looking up some artists listed as "ambient" - didn't realize Brian Eno was one of the "bigs" of the genre, I hadn't heard a peep from him since Roxy Music. Was a little strange to see Mike Oldfield listed, he's mostly considered "New Age", but I suppose some of his albums fit the description.

There might be a couple of lounges that play music like that but I dont think any clubs play stuff like that.
