: CHEAP GASSSSSSS!!!!

skyxx

The Mohawk on Willingdon and Parker has some "Special" deal going on. Currently the 90 and 92 pumps have issues so 94 Octane gas is the same price as Regular!!!! :) CHEAP!!!!!

That's 0.16cents a litre you save since 94 is 16 cents more than regular gas.

People say Mohawk and Huskey will get you the least mileage out of all gas stations. I like to stick with Shell.

Gasohol is bad for older cars because of how it burns, newer cars have more complex computers to run the methanol-mixed gas better.

That's because they have methanol additives in their gas to boost the gas octane, so you're getting less gasoline per litre than gas somewhere else.

Mohawk/Husky gas isn't bad and the 94 octane is refined by Chevron then Mohawk adds their own Additives. Just because it has Ethanol, there's only 10% ethanol in it which isn't even significant enough to hit fuel consumption rates. All gas has to go through transport Canada's regulations so most gasoline is fine for all cars.

So how much have you actually calculated that when using Mohawk/Husky gas it makes a significant drop in KM/L?

Never used Mohawk/Husky after I started calculating my fuel usage. But I did use it way back and IIRC it gave me noticeably less kms. Maybe someone else has done calculations...

don't use mohawk or husky.

my family's 2000 32. tl filled up mohawk or husky once and it idled really bad. the engine came on and I had the car towed to acura.

they drained the gas and suggested we fill cheveron, or petro.

Chevron FTW.

Also, running higher octane gas isn't any better for an engine designed/tuned for 87. In the long run may be worse as higher octane resists detonation and may not burn as cleanly.

FOR E10(husky/mohawk) fuel economy suffers by around 2-7%.

http://feerc.ornl.gov/pdfs/pub_int_blends_rpt1_updated.pdf

Drive put the three fuels to the test, driving three identical Toyota Camrys more than 2000 kilometres in a range of conditions to see which fuel drives your dollar further.

The E10-fuelled Camry in the test cost $276.55 to run, while the regular unleaded version cost $271.56 and the premium unleaded fuel version, which cost, on average, 15 cents a litre more than E10, cost $285.54.

The car running on premium unleaded consumed 9.06 litres/ 100km, compared with 9.41L/100km for the regular unleaded car and 9.81 litres for the E10 vehicle.

Most likely. I've meet very many chinese folks who put gasoline into a diesel engine car or diesel into a gasoline engine car. Its quite funny actually. Anyone with half a brain will figure out that something is wrong when you pick up the pump and realize they dont have 87, 89, 91. Instead the word "DIIIEEEEEESOOOLLL" is written on the pump.

I use Husky/Mohawk and don't notice anything wrong. I do get worse mileage but that's cuz my car runs better on the stuff and I tend to drive it harder. Gas is gas, it all comes from the same few refineries out in Burnaby.

I wouldn't doubt they had to drain the gas on his tl, because when i had mohawk 94 in my turbo R the car would actually stall sometimes on a complete stop. So basically i drained it out by just driving around the whole day. Once i filled it with petro canada 94octane care was fine.

Chrevron is always the best!!! If you want cheap gas, go to Husky. The price of 87 regular but you get 90 octane. And their gas comes from the same refinery as Chevron

Empty pumps at some Lower Mainland gas stations

Refinery problem in Alberta leading to some shortages

Sheila Scott COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) 2009-10-22 16:02
COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) - If the price of gas wasn't enough to make you mad at the pump, this morning many drivers in parts of the Lower Mainland discovered the hard way that a gas shortage is now spreading to B.C.$ And empty pumps will likely become more common at gas stations over the next few weeks.

It was a frustrating morning for many people looking to buy gas in Coquitlam.$ One called us to report on the empty pumps.$ "All pumps have signs on them, 'sorry for the inconvenience', we have no gas."

And it's likely going to get worse. Jeff Gabert with Shell Canada says routine maintenance at an oil refinery in Alberta has gone on longer than expected, and the effect of that is now being felt.$ "And that's resulted in a temporary shortage of gasoline, throughout Alberta, into B.C. and we'll be seeing it in Saskatchewan as well."
Gabert says there is a plus-side to the shortage: If a station is out of 'regular' fuel, it may sell higher grade gasolines that are in stock at the regular price.$ It isn't known just how long the shortage will last.

Bronze contains up to 10% ethanol
Silver contains up to 5% ethanol
V-Power contains NO ethanol

I wonder what the ethanol concentrations are for other gas stations...

I think it has more to do with consistency of the product (they are probably the largest reseller) and status of their facilities.

Techron / toluene actual benefits is not that big these days, especially when cars starting to use higher gas pressure and DI.

For best type of gas. I think it is better to time when to get gas (ie you want when the underground tank is full but haven't been disturbed).. rather than the brand of gas. In fact, being consistent with one manufacturer is probably more beneficial on the long run, since then you can tell if anything is wrong between batches of gas.
