Looks awesome but I'm thinking 250k or so which is getting up there.

The torque figure sounds about right for a N/A 4.8 liter engine - you're never going to get massive torque numbers without big displacement or forced induction.

Weight is pretty reasonable at under 3300 lbs...

Definitely too much money for the car, but this does serve to shut the people up who were convinced it was never happening. Well, they built it - a little disappointing, but in the end, they did really, finally build it.

Does it really matter what brand it is? As long as the car is up to the quality(interior/exterior), performance and exclusivity it can be priced at that point.

His comment still stands

NSX-R GT (JDM)

After the release of the Second-Gen NSX-R, Honda developed a more agile, more responsive, and quicker limited edition NSX-R called the NSX-R GT. The NSX-R GT was created by Honda solely to comply with the Super GT production-based race car homologation requirements. As JGTC rules required at least five production cars for any race car version to compete, the NSX-R GT was limited to a production run of only five cars.

While I do agree, in the real world it's hard to justify that. Look at the Volkswagen Phaeton. For what it was, it was a fantastic car. It was well built, well appointed and reasonably priced for it's competition. Unfortunately it sold poorly, largely due to the fact that it was a Volkswagen and not an Audi, BMW, or Benz.

That said, I have no doubt that Lexus will easily sell all 500 units of this car.

350 lb-ft of Torque seems alright.

I usually convert ENGINE torque output figures from lb-ft into kgm.

In my opionion for N/A engines only, a 1.8L should produce around 18kgm (~130lb-ft). A 5.0L should have 50kgm (~362lb-ft)

This is a N/A 4.8L, so it should have 48kgm, but it has 48.4kgm.

Just my opionion.

looks like an sc 400 on steroids... and why would they spend all this money on R&D and then only sell 500 units... dont make sense... And for the price, I would rather have the R8 V10... better looks its probably a better car...

Automakers always "say" they are going to make this a limited model but then turns around and make it a mass production platform.

EVO was supposed to be a 1500 cars deal back in the days. EVOX is unlimited production model.
Same goes for STi, GTR and all that crap.

The least you can expect is there will be another batch for the open top models.

If it's exclusive enough people will buy it. There will only be about 350 LHD models available.

definitely not to the extent of the examples you listed. This car is 375 000, not 60 000

The Lexus wont catch on fire.

One the the most reliable auto makers just made a Supercar guys. I think this car is worth checking out.

With the FT-86 concept out, and the LFA available for purchase, I have my fingers crossed that Toyota/Lexus is comming back with sports cars.
I'm waiting for the next SC/Supra.

After learning more and more about this car, the price is starting to make sense. This article http://jalopnik.com/5388538/2011-lexus-lfa-first-drive points out that every single element and component of the car was designed by Toyota in-house by themselves. They relied on their very own F1 technology and refrained from contracting parts/components out to other third-party manufacturers like what other supercar companies usually do. In essence, the article claims that this is the purest supercar ever made available today.

I think the Japanese had supercars in the NSX and Skyline but this would be the first Exotic from Japan.

IMO the Supra is was never a supercar, just a wannabe, ala the Corvette.

And how was the Skyline a supercar?

It was a grocery getter Coupe chassis that had a widebody, different suspension, and a bigger motor with 2 turbos + Atessa training wheels just in case.

Super Cars are purpose built as flagship sports cars.

Viper, Corvette, FD RX-7's, MK4 Supra, 300zx, NSX. The JDM "Supercars" never really stood out as "supercars". They're fast, but by no means a "super car"

GT-R's are classed like the EVO/STi. An otherwise grocery getter Chassis with a bigger motor with turbo(s), different suspension, and a widebody.

This is why the Z is, has, and always will be the Nissan Flagship car. GT-R fanboiz can hate, but it's the truth.

JDM land had thier Flagship sports cars, but This is by true definition, a Super Car.

I think the NSX is considered a Supercar back in its time. The Skyline and Supra are not really a supercar, but its pretty high up there. EVO/STI are just rally inspired family Sedans. The Z has always been, and always will be, the Nissan sport coupe for the every man, I wont call it the flagship car. The GTR would be the flagship sport coupe, now.

I understand your viewpoint because JDM-land never really made many things to rival the big V8 powered Europeans and Americans. Only recently did Lexus tried with the IS-F, now with this LF-A. Which still strikes me as out of the norm for Lexus, their V8s were usually smooth as butter and tuned for comfort.

after so many people wanted Toyota to build a new sports car, then they did the mix with Subaru, but it wasn't a "pure" Toyota. Now they've gone above and beyond, and I think I know why they used a Subie engine for the FT-86, they were too busy building this to come up with a new engine :haha:

Are you kidding me? There's a mouth there. Clearly.
