depends on what kind of filter you have.....K&N filter = remove, wash, dry, re-apply oil, and install....you need to add more info.

I bought it with my car at the dealer 2yrs ago. My car is a Mazda 3 and they put their Mazdaspeed CAI in. I forget who makes their CAI. But typically should i be getting that filter cleaned every 2 or 3 yrs or even less?

it's a dry filter, just get the AEM filter cleaning kit, or you can get a kit at the dealer.
