Rotten timing, I just sold my 300D a month ago... for $300. Set the price after checking around on CL, buysell.com, etc., so yeah, that's pretty realistic for that camera or similar.

you'll find better deals here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14
I've even seen 20D's for $350. a 300D shouldn't be worth more than $150. in fact I sold my 30D for $475.

craiglist. check it everyday, and you should find a good deal..

some guy was selling his D80 for around 400. a bit over your budget, but a good sturdy camera unlike those D40/D60

Thanks, is that forum local or will they need to be shipped? I'd rather deal in local; if there's any forums around here that anybody could recommend that woul be great.

What's wrong with the D60? I have one, and it's great. I've been using it for over a year, and the thing is rock solid. And the pictures it takes are amazing. I'm putting in a solid vote for the D60, excellent camera with tons of features for a beginner.

D80 is a great camera. But it's an old model, so you're probably looking at tons of actuations. And that's a whole lot of camera for a beginner too.
