Lack of an athletic commission that is willing to oversee the sport.

Gregor Robertson is a big fan of sanctioning MMA because he realizes how much money can be made from just one UFC event being held in Vancouver.

Marc Ratner (former director of the NSAC and VP of UFC's regulatory affairs) was here a few months back and they held a media day @ GM Place and answered questions that the media had regarding the concern for the sport. They're lobbying real hard to Vancouver city council to get it sanction for a June event.

i wasnt aware it was due to a lack of an athletic commision. Always thought city council had something against it...
