: New Fiesta kickin around Vancouver

FINALLY I got to see one up close, sit in it, poke around, etc etc etc. VERY nice little car. Obviously I'm biased because I'm going to be selling them, but I think you will all be impressed with how well built this small car is. Personally I'd much rather have one of these Fiestas than one of our current Focuses.

This is technically still a euro model, but apparently the only difference on the inside is that our Fiestas will get microsoft SYNC (whereas the euro ones just have a generic bluetooth link) and the front bumper will be slightly different, but still have the same look and design. Otherwise they should be pretty much identical.

We should get them within 5-6 months and the prices should be very competitive with the Fit and Yaris.

Any interior shots? Looks sweet!

As for the Focus, I'd be happy if they just import the regular Focus ST Hatch.. If they can build that thing locally with the same quality as the UK, I'm sure they'll outsell the Versa/Fit/Yaris/City Golf combined..

Focus will be built here in 2011.. right now USD is lower than Euro so they are going to build in the US and ship it back to Europe for sale.

It is never about where they build the car, but the manufacturing engineering that goes into the production design process.. and that is improving every year... eg no one complain if it is a US or Canadian Corolla.

I heard Ford is gonna do a Fiesta tour around Canada. I checked out the website and the tour will arrive in Vancouver by March or so. If I can check it out now I would Rich. :)

i thought that our fiesta was getting built in mexico? just wondering because mexico already has the new focus and it's being built there?

http://jalopnik.com/394197/ford-to-announce-plans-to-build-new-fiesta-in-mexico-wear-sombreros

a little bit more focus here, mexican style:

I only got one interior shot and it was really fuzzy.

The North American Fiestas are being built right now 1 hour north of Mexico city.

I have no idea what the timeline and production schedule is for the "new" North American Focus.

There should be a few more Fiestas kickin around within the next few weeks. There is a Squeeze Green one around as well.

If I hear anything about a showing or preview locally, I'll let ya'll know.

is this car going to have the exact same performance spec as a Mazda 2? Are they gonna be out around the same time?

Race in Metrotown, being chased by a powered-by-parents FOB in a GTRRRR.

The Focus RS is a Volvo lololol (basically a tuned C30 with an S60 R engine).

when the fiesta does finally arrive here, ford should just run that top gear footage as a commercial and see all the sales rack up

+1! In fact, all car manufacturers that didn't get blasted by TG should show their footage as their ads. :D

Car magazines around the world are not rating high on this car, sure it gets a lot of
attention after Clarkson ripped it inside the mall, but in real, it cannot compete with its
competitors like Mazda 2, Fit, Golf 1.4TSI, Alfa Mio and other sub compact cars in terms
of quality, value, performance, and fuel efficiency.

Good luck on the sales.

but then again, none of the above are available in north america, so maybe it will do well?

Any mention of suspension tuning differences between the Euro and our model, or will they be identical in that regard?

Mazda2 will be sold in Canada~ I saw one in Richmond outside the Mazda office (on Ackroyd, besides Chapters). Just drive up to the roof top parking lot, and you will see it~

Wow on the $12,999 base price.. I don't know why anyone would take an Aveo, Fit, Yaris, Versa, City Golf over this..

$1350 destination fee though.

Plus thats the sedan price, the hatchback starts at $18k

hJe6
12-03-2009, 09:32 AM
the destination fee is a bit too much

but then yet again...top model with options most of us like...ending at $21,000...i agree...who would wanna take fit, yaris and the others over this...anyone know the hp/torque for this car?

too_slow
12-03-2009, 09:39 AM
I think the $1300 destination fee is the going rate (stealership's profit) for most cars nowadays. It's weird how the PDI/Transporation cost on a Canadian made Corolla is the same as a Germany-imported Golf though..

I'd love to test drive this side by side with a VW Polo that will be coming soon..

nice looking polo....besides the destination fee....some "stealership" also add documentation fee

i was looking around for the best price to buy my mkv gti, clarkdale charged me $3xx while west minister vw didnt charge me at all. Also to whoever is interested in buying a vw, go west minister vw for Leo...he's a great guy :)

ford dealerships do not get any of the destination & delivery money as profit and it isn't negotiable. nor is the hold-back.

doc/admin fee is the only negotiable fee, and even that is there in order to cover costs that otherwise come out of regular markup.

the mazda2 w/ mps bodykit looks awesome. i wonder how much more the mazda2 will be over the focus, considering it's essentially the same car.

I know I'm picking bones but I'm sort of dissapointed at the Fiesta having no projector headlamps much like the euro counterpart. I did a quick build on how much It'll cost me for the new fiest from Ford.ca website. The US seems to get more selection in a sense of wheel packages etc etc.

the fiesta is really nice. it was at the autoshow last year.
but i can't help to think, ford really has to deliver, since they are late into this segment.
the mazda2 is prettier imo. especially the one up top.
