First, I know nothing about computers so any talk of bus speeds etc.. will go right over my head.

What I need:
-portable (for school)
-battery life
-durability
-MS Office (mostly word, excel and ppt)

I do not care for:
-video/music
-gaming
-appearance

I've narrowed down my choices to the Toshiba n205 and the Asus 1000HE since they have a 6 cell battery but am open to suggestions.

And do these things heat up quickly? How long do they normally last for realistically.

The two you have look like decent choices, but don't forget about the Asus 1005HA as well; I just bought one recently, gf loves it.
