Need help redeeming employee gift cert.

So here's the background, I used to work at Sunglass Hut which is owned by Luxottica.

Every employee is rewarded a free purchase of any frame (up to $500) once they work for one full year.

The thing was, I was going to quit two months before my one year because I just could not take it anymore (long story). However, I stuck it out till the end and finally reached my one year, enough to get my gift certificate.

So I handed in my 2 weeks in, as soon as I worked for one year

Heres the problem, a week ago, I tried redeeming my gift cert as a present for my mom, it could not go through.

The problem was, I need to be an employee in order to redeem it.

I think this is total bulls*** because the gift cert is supposed to be a reward for working a full year. What should I do now? and has this happened to anyone?

I am thinking of e-mailing Luxottica corp but before I do that, i wanna see your perspectives on this matter.

thanks

yeah of course,

however the thing was, I received the actual gift cert a few weeks after I already quit because they had to mail the package over from Head office

This gift certificate is a courtesy they provided to you. They can rescind this courtesy when you leave.

If you're really intent on getting it I'd contact corporate. I'd be polite. I'd be VERY polite.
They're the best likely path to getting this certificate redeemed.

If you made any friends at Sunglass hut, get them to buy the glasses for you?

they gave your a present to reward your loyalty and you repay them by quitting. how you think corporate is gonna feel about that? all they'll see is you waited to get your $500 and jet.

i wouldn't even bother.
