How much do you Pay for your Cable? (Shaw)

Hey guys.
I currently pay about $70 for my cable through Shaw.
This price, from what I hear is really high?
The channels I get; 1-68, 80-90, 200-209 (Free HD Channels)
There are a few channels in between like channel 112 and others.
So I guess I have basic cable with premium channels? ie. movie channels which are channels 60-64.
I'm going to call Shaw retentions and ask for a better price and maybe a free PVR rental for a year.
My internet is Telus and i'm happy with them so I can't bundle anything.
I was looking on Telus and saw a $45 bundle for 112 channels. So I think i'm going to ask them to lower my price to $40 a month. or $45 with Sportsnet HD.
But, I'm wondering what you guys have so I can kind of negotiate better.
Thanks a lot.

well what do you use for your phone? My parents have the same channel setup (I wish there was a way to see which channels you do and don't have because I never even look between 100-200) bundled with the home phone and basic highspeed, with the bundle deal we nearly get one of the 3 free.
I don't think they'll drop it that much if you're not bundled at all, considering the price you're comparing to is a bundled price.

$70 is actually pretty standard for what you have. Don't expect too much from retentions unless you have been with Shaw for a very long time or you have all your business with them.
From what I've read on RFD, Shaw does not get scared easily with threats of leaving Shaw for Telus. They know their product is better and will not really match anything competitors offer.
Hopefully you can get something good.... let us know how it goes!!

and i've been with them since ROGERS, which mean 15years of business. i even set a cancellation date to cut my service off and didnt get any call backs trying to keep me with them.

well they're more or less the best and they know it, Telus you can scare a bit though :lol then again every person from Telus internet and home phone that I've dealt with has been an idiot.

Shaw can be a piece of shit sometimes. Yeah, they have good service in what they offer, the cable/internet. What pisses me off is that they just keep jacking up internet prices slowly all the damn time.
I have been a customer with them for about 7years now, my high-speed internet started off around $39/month, now it's like $45/month.

hmm. shaw called me two days ago and offered me thier 7.5Mbps service for $9.99 a month for a year or their extreme 15Mbps for $19.99 for a year.
I was going to switch but I called Telus and they offered me the same deal. Their 6.0 Mbps for $9.99. I took the deal since I don't have to change anything.

A friend of mine was approached on the corner by a shaw promo rep in yaletown.
$10/month for 12 months.
EVERYTHING, including shaw extreme, and 2 free PVR's.
they are pushing novus out of yaletoown area in a hardcore aggressive manner.
he took up the offer, and it's valid, but he has to call in monthly for the credits on the account.

The new Pace HD PVR with 1TB HD is on sale from Shaw for $398. Gave back my old 160GB Motorola HD PVR which I had free rental for a year!
I pay about $110 incl tax for full digital + HD plus & regular internet

I was walking back home and I bumped into a couple shaw reps in Yaletown. They tried getting me to switch. I didn't bite on it. Stayed with Novus. It was just a 1 day promo anyway.

Same price for me as well. Would love to get a PVR, but Shaw won't give any discounts to existing customers.

That's Vancouver, and they're lucky if they have another choice for internet. It certainly isn't Surrey, though, where we live. Out here, we get Telus or Shaw; both of which are poor choices.

Around $160 after taxes for Cable/Internet/Phone. I usually have a UFC or two on there as well, I had a $300+ bill a couple a months back......
I was with Rogers and now with Shaw since they've been in BC I feel I'm getting ripped.
