I saw it a couple hours ago, it was ok. I give it 6.5/10

I hated the fact that John Cusack was always able to outrun anything. The ground breaking up in California, The Volcano in Yellowstone, The ashes in Las Vegas etc. He was ALWAYS one step ahead of everything which was pretty stupid

I liked the part where they were asking for 1 billion, and the guy thought it was USD but it was in Euros. I guess trying to show how the USD is not the global standard.

Is the notion that the end of the world is coming in 2012 the new fad

I guess they did a good job with the FX that it wasn't noticable or distracting seeing local lowermainland scenery in film?

just saw it,
i thought it was pretty awesome. it's one of those movies that has several moments where its keeping you on the edge of your seat cause you're like "omg not this, this is not happening again..." but in a suspenseful way

It was just really long.. i had to pee about an hour in (even though i went right before the movie) and had to hold it for another hour and a half cause i didnt want to miss anything :(

Only thing I didnt like was the beginning, the background info stuff just went by too quickly it was kinda hard to follow what theyre trying to tell you and then boom, you're right into the main storyline
But i give it a 8.5/10, the special effects were just so awesome though.
People were clapping in the end heh

I AM DOING YOU GUYS A FAVOR WITH MY CAPS TYPING! DO NOT WATCH THIS BORING 3 HOUR NOAH'S ARK REMAKE!

A boring typical end of the world movie with the same cheezy cliches we've all seen before...this movie makes RAMBO more believable.

I think everyone really is expecting a typical end of the world movie so really I'm not too sure anybody will be surprised. However, with that said people will still go see it myself included. Sometimes I just want to pay and see entertainment. I wanna see shit get destroyed and the some which I expect here.

I enjoyed the movie, however, i'm going to be bothered for a few days. They don't really talk about the science in the movie, but I knew a bit of the background that 2012 signifies an end of world as we know it. I'd say the movie makes you think since its based off of real claims (yes, the mayan calendar does end at 12/21/2012, yes past predictions have been correct).
Oh well...
8/10 for special effects and reminding me of a possible outcome

Saw it tonight. Very superficial movie but definitely worth seeing purely for the awesome action scenes and special effects. Does not disappoint.

Apparently there's a local Vancouverite starring in this film, Osric Chau.

That's kinda cool. A lot of my friends actually know him personally.

^ yeah, my friend went to school with him and said he was class president or something (Churchill)

anyway, it wasn't as bad of a movie as I was expecting it to be. There were actually quite a few laugh out moments

Engine. Starrrrt.

had the whole theater cracking up and laughing

just came back from the 7:10 showing.
they had 2 rooms playing it! i was sooooo lucky to get the smaller room with lots of empty seats arriving at 7pm

anyways, i thought it was very good.

they should have drove the bentley instead of the truck to the dam.. that would have been MUCH faster.. haha

storyline = EH
i find these "world coming to an end" movies really predictable so that's why whatever happens in the movie isn't really a surprise
BUT as people said the special effects were pretty dang good :)

I enjoyed it. Just turn off your brain and enjoy the graphics.
What did everyone expect. The world is coming to an end and that is exactly what they gave us. LOL

We watched it with a packed theater and a swear someone was getting jacked off behind us since it smelt like cock, maybe not as bad as the movie but we still enjoyed it.

Some funny scenes and some cry-cry one for the girls but overall 7/10

Any word if there were any cut scenes for the China version? I watched it in China as well and now I am a bit curious.

They could have made it a bit shorter. Cut out the hero moment at the end and the 15 minute breath holding session and it would have been more tolerable. I wasn't expecting realism so I didn't mind the obscene explosions and ridiculous luck when in the plane, limo and car.

The negative reviews probably helped because I didn't have much expectations when I went to watch this. I've seen a lot worse movies over the last few months.

Jobo
11-26-2009, 01:24 AM
K, so the beginning, everything I can relate to since it seems realistic with the effects and shit. Airplanes, cars...

and in the end BAM, three ships looking like they came out of a GI Joe movie appear and kinda screw up the entire view of the movie.
Shiettttttt

6.5 out of 10 for me for ending
10 out of 10 for awesome effects

Just got back from it and I thought it was alright. I mean neither I or anybody expected an Oscar winning movie or anything but for a movie that's meant to purely entertain it did its part for the most part. I agree though it was a bit too long and could have cut out some shiet but ah wells.

2/10

CGI was great but the horrible story/acting/(demeaning saudis)/etc/etc/length was sooooo lame

everyone in the theatre was immediately GONE at the end of the film, turn around and it was a ghost town (it was full)
