Well, that is what happens when you are piss drunk and smoke in a train station.

Hmm, lets see here, lets have a smoke, then try to step on the cigarette when trying to maintain balance...

probably detection of where the people are, ie: if it detects a person on the tracks, it probably would send an alarm or something to the operator.

motion tracking and recognition for situations such as this.

individuals are more likely to make errors than machine operated.

individuals are more likely to make errors than machine operated.

That is true, but most modern transport systems have the person there basically "just to look pretty". For example in Hong Kong, the MTR operators are there just so they can override the automatic controls should anything out of the ordinary happen. All the stopping, signals etc... are handled automatically like the skytrain.

Our train system isn't too complex that operators are needed, also, new skytrain stops have motion detectors when someone steps past a certain point on the platform. Loud bell rings when you move past it. Next time you're at the station, look at where the yellow lines lead to.

it seems like the people on the platform had ample time to jump down into the pit and get her out of there..

i don't know if i would do it.. but i'm sure if someone was hero enough they would.. ie. peter chao?

lol. lucky ass chick.

Don't most platforms also have emergency dugouts along the sides of the rails?

Of course in this case, the broad would've been way too out of it to roll over a few times..
