Hey guys,
I wanted to ask you all a question...I think i may know the answer, but i wanted to get some confirmation as I'm not really a technical person when it comes to computers and networking.
I'm currently using a wireless router for wifi around the apt and for the PS3 to play online etc...
The router I am using is a Linksys WRT54G, Version 8.
Now typically I have no issues with my internet signal anywhere in the apartment. I do download a lot of torrents, but I havnt had too many problems with my router crapping out. I probably have to power cycle my modem to reset it once every few weeks to a month...maybe less frequently.
The problem i'm having is specifically with my PS3 when it comes to having to download game and system updates.
What keeps happening is that everytime I try to update the system, the download will run anywhere between 2% and 80% and then just stop...I can sometimes attempt to download the file maybe 4 or 5 times (sometimes once or twice) consecitively before the router craps out and i completely lose the signal. I then have to power cycle the router again to get the signal up and running again. Then when i attempt to download updates, again, it keeps going over and over again. And then finally, sometimes after the 10th try, sometimes after the 20th try, and sometimes after the 30th + try, it finally successfully downloads 100%...
But this is frigin annoying as hell...especially cuz i'm trying to play COD MW2, and there are always many system updates when the game first comes out due to bugs and what not...
I've spent pretty much the entire day trying to download the 1.03 update with zero success...I've probably attempted it about 60 times today and have had to power cycle the router maybe 25 times...annoying as hell..
Anyways...anyone know what may be causing this issue? My guess is the router needs to go...get one that is more reliable...if this is the case, anyone have any recomendations on a reasonably priced one I should get?
If there may be something else causing this issue, any other ideas?
Thanks for your help
