i tested on bothe speedtest.net and speakeasy.net
shouldnt i hit a minimum of 10-12 Mbps???

15 is theoritical speeds
it will never be there without speedboost

If you just switched yesterday, it could take some time for your account to be provisioned before you'll see the new speeds.
IIRC, cable modems download a config file from something called a Cable Modem Termination System, which directs the cable modem on how to operate. 1 way to force the cable modem to download a new config file from the CMTS could be to unplug the modem, coax and all, and replug it back in.
Also, if the computer you're doing the speedtest from is on a wireless network, that could also affect your speeds.

yeah, i tried both wired and wireless. i'll reboot the modem/router tonight and see if that helps.
8Mbps is a far cry from 15 Mbps.

Call them. We were paying for like 10Mbps, only got like a quarter or half of it, called in and bitched, now we're back to normal.

well, the wiring in your house matters too, if its bad or rather old that might affect your results, as well 15Mbps is prob including speedboost, so you cant expect to be up there 24/7.

i was on extreme as well and i was only getting max 1.2mbs bt speed

i have 54mbps over wireless, should i still be expecting the "theoretical" speed from Shaw extreme? or should i call n complain?

plug your modem directly into your PC then do a speed test then.
if you are not getting close to what you paid for call and ask shaw for help.

Also know that 15 Mbps is the theoretical speed you get from shaw servers (ie. shaw's site). All other sites will not beable to handle the 15 Mbps. The speed on everything other than shaw run will never be close to the theoretical.

I did the test while I've got about 5 torrents going (downloading approx 550kb/sec at the moment and uploading ~20kb/sec).
I'm on Shaw Xtreme-I too.
