for me it was "Quarrantine".
blair witch type camerawork, zombie type monsters coming out of the dark, monster suspense...fuck that movie gave me the heebee-jeebies something fierce!

Most zombie movies do that to me. I start thinking about how hopeless life would be if something like that happened.
Also, The Road looks scarily depressive too.

I don't watch too many scary movies, and some of the ones I choose to watch now are a little disappointing.. but one that scarred me for life was Stephen King's IT

The Ring will be the only movie that really truly terrified me. And i was unfazed by grudge 1/2 and any other horror movie. Just the Ring.... weird.
The Exorcist.
The 1970s still knows how to scare the crap out of me.
Seriously. After watching it, I get sooo edgy.

Agreed to this. The ring 1 and 2 were not scary at all, I don't see why the majority of people here find them so scary. hahaha and i'm a girl! Zombie movies are also too fake and therefore not scary

Watching Pontypool right now. A Canadian zombie movie about an outbreak of murderous rampages where the "infection" is spread not by bites or viruses but by the English language.
Its a weird concept but it works for the movie.
And yes, because it was a zombie-ish movie I found it a little scary.

QFT.
The only other movie that comes a veeeeeery distant second is the Thai(?), subtitled version of Shutter.

There weren't a lot of movies that i watched where i wasn't able to sleep properly the same night i watched it...
28 Weeks Later was the movie that stood out the most.

Oh...and i do have to say that Paranormal Activity did scare me significantly.
The main reason why is because i have used a ouija board before where some eerie shit has happened.......This movie pretty much stopped me from using it ever again.

IT freaked the fuck out of me when i was really young
The Haunting in Conneticut was pretty fucking scary
If you're talking about the one that came out on the Discovery Channel a few years back, then yea, that was freaky for me as well.

Watched Paranormal Activity last night at around 3am. That is literally the worst time to watch that movie because most of the bad shit that happens to Katie and Micah takes place around 3am.
Honestly though, it didn't really scare me. I had two moments where I jumped but it was only because the scene got so quiet that I was leaning into the TV straining to hear. Then came the loud BANG or CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP which I should've been expecting.
I think its more worthwhile as a 'group experience'

exorist on shrooms fucked with me, i'll admit that.
the ring scared the crap outta me the first time, then it got less scary each subsequent time watching it.
grudge I and II (american) were done alright....kinda scary, but kind of funny at the same time cause horrible acting.
darkness falls....i think scared me when i first watched it. i forget what it's about.
event horizon scared the crap outta me when it came out (1997)

The movies that come to mind for me when i think genuinely scary are:
The Ring
The Grudge 1 (never saw 2)
Event Horizon (watched it with my parents when it first came out. I was like 10 and it scarred me for life lol)
House of 1000 corpses (I think only because I was high at the time)

I would say Amityville Horror, i dont remember if its spelled like that
good movie.
the ring
paranormal activity, not bad as well
i've found the horror films with lower levels of gore to be more frightening.
although, hellraiser seemed to defy that rule for me
Event Horizon, HellRaiser, The Cell, and suprisingly enough Silent Hill... I wasn't able to watch that movie a second time because of the fact that it was so disturbing.
