hi guys,

I'm thinking of tinting my back 3 windows on my 98 integra. I'm paranoid, so i'm either only gonna tint the back 3 or none at all. Also, it'll have to be something like a 35% tint.

So based on that,

1. here are some pics of the car with no tint. Wondering if someone with photoshop skillz out there can make an accurate pic of what it'll look like with something like 35% in the back.

2. should i tint or not? I'm still debating on whether it'll look good or not. My friend did a crappy quick photoshop, so i'm hoping someone can give me something better, but here's what I THINK it'll look like, from the side at least, no tint vs. tint

to answer the questions:

i'm afraid of getting busted by cops, plus visibility. Visibility is also why i want a more subtle tint.

i sorta agree with the "5% or go home" thing which is why i'm having a problem with if i want this or not in the first place hahaha

Dont worry about cops, I dont think its illegal to tint the back windows.
Only the front windsheild, and passenger+driver side windows.

And from the inside... it doesnt really affect your vision... at least not that much.

say somebody looks at your car from outside, it might look pitch black... but from the inside you can see fairly clearly.

^15% is the darkest you should go, you could do 5% on the sides though and 15% in the rear, I have 5% on all 3 though, big mistake... can't see shit out back at night

really that bad? maybe 15% is good then...

does anybody know... are there diff types of tint used (material wise)... or pretty much all the same film

And ya, cant get in any trouble for tinting back windows. I had 10'ish% on the back of my old wagon, didn't really affect anything at night. Now that I think about it I think I prefered it; cut down the blinding lights of the cars behind me

i personally have 35% tint and i find it more than dark enough. most oem tints are 35% too, in case you're wondering.

it isn't that bad at night whilst raining either.

the only trouble i have with my tint is when i'm parallel parking int he rain, it's hard to see the curb with little droplets of water on my side view mirror through the tint.although on my front tint isn't that dark 50%

do w/e you're willing to put up with, illegal mods come with their consequences.

that being said since you seem pretty set on just getting the rear, 5% will be fine.

hmmm anyone able to photoshop what 15% would look like? if 15% will not fuck up my visbility of the outside, then i'd def go as dark as possible!

you're better off asking people for real photos of their cars and respective tint %

also, if you live in an area where street lights are very far apart, 5% will kill you. without another light source, its basically pitch black.

while you're at it, slam your car more and get a JDM front end :thumbsup:

You can do anything you want to your rear windows. You could replace them with steel panels if you really wanted. Just nothing up front.

I hate BC for that. Whenever I see Washington cars up here with full tint around their car I get super Jealous.

I have 20% tint on the rear windows of my Prez, and I'm REALLY tempted to do the side windows, but at roadblocks they check me everytime.

Parallel is not actually too bad at night, because you can actually see the reflections of your brake lights and reverse lights so its okay with 5%, 15% would be pretty ideal IMO
and also 5% as you can see, a huge contrast between the front non tinted windows, would look great if it were say 35% up front but thats illegal...

I have 20% and it's probably the most that I would do while maintaining decent night visibility. In BC, the tint laws are that as long as you have 2 working side mirrors, you can have any tint on the window as long as it is behind the driver...:)

Go 15% all the way around (excluding windshield).

When I had my celica i Loved it, didnt get busted by the cops (although when i saw cops i rolled my window down just for safe measure) and got lots of compliments. Visability at night wasn't bad either, I was impressed.

I have 15 front 5 rear. You'd have to be blind to think that's dark. I can see perfectly fine.

Here's mine, F50/R35 a much cleaner look in my opinion. It's either tint all or tint none, especially on a sedan.

Haven't had any troubles in Richmond/New West/Burnaby for the last 8 months I've owned the car.

When it rains it makes it a lot darker too lol.

It's not too dark in terms of visibility, but you won't be hiding the fact that you have tinted front windows from anyone :rolleyes:

lol i heard some horror stories on here about cops actually ripping a piece off right there when they give u a ticket! In that case it's $100+no tint+the money u paid for the tint :(

been shopping around for a new bumper (see crack) and i might have found one with a lip actually, so that might be coming up :-p

as for turn signals, these are from the last owner (in my defense), but i do prefer the clear signals - i'm keeping them! hahaha

1. i care. Hence the thread!
2. i'm not sure i like tint just in the back. Looking for advice to see what it'll look like etc. I don't wanna spend even $10 souping up my car if the result will be a car that looks WORSE. Also, for me $150 is not "only" $150. For $150, I could buy approximately 150 slices of pender st. pizza. That's approximately half a year of lunches.
3. You're right, it's not like dropping $2g. $2gs would buy you years of delicious pender st. pizza.

what is the purpose of the tint?

if it's actually for privacy then go darker.

However if it's for looks, and you're tinting only the rear, then don't tint at all just for a cleaner look.

if you're gonna do it, go 5% - i personally didn't tint my current car, as i like the stock look for when it was modded - i didn't want ppl to know i was 'that' kind of a boy - my last car was tinted all around

^ :lol that's like 0% tint. personally, i like the way my ek looks with 35% tint in the rear windows only. if it were legal i'd probably do the front too though. live with what you can get away with. w/o the tint i don't feel comfortable, especially with letting people see whats in the back of the car so easily. whether this be amps/subs, strut tower bar, trunk bar, c-pillar, etc i'm just not that in to trusting random strangers to not mess with the car.

as for front lip, i'm prolly getting it, but not because of the lip, but because it's already installed on a used red bumper i found (cheaper than buying a diff colour bumper and painting it lol). So i guess it's fate haha...man i'll just start a member's journal or sth later...talking about my own other mods way too much lol

Also I'd get the 98+ tail lights ( completely red tails )
It looks that much better especially on a red teg.

If you can't find a set of 98+ tails, then do what I did and go on ebay and buy the redout vinyl film tint, precut for integra, less than 10 shipped to your door

I personally wouldn't do dark tint on your fronts.

1 - red car, supposedly more eye-catching therefore higher potential of getting busted
2 - already a sporty car with mods, less leniency from cops if busted

agree with the red car thing. am i missing something is OP a drug dealer or something? rear tint is and have been always legal? why would OP get busted by cops? or do you mean for other stuff like speeding? I've driven and stop by cops in both legally rear tinted cars and car with no tint, didn't get treated specially in any case

lol read the first line in that quote. i was referring to the fronts.

we (op and i ) established the tint is strictly for looks. so i suggested that either go full tint ( front and rear ) or none at all.

I then listed the reasons not to go dark (full) tint as you have quoted.

but anyway, i think i won't do front tint, and i think i agree that back tint will look worse than with no tint at all...so i think as of now, the decision is to not do tinting.
